Leaver down on steering wheel,spray graphite powder in where key goes in .

Some thing not hooked up correctly,check wires around starter.

Check the shifter for something come loose or a damaged cable or leaver..

Good battery first as this will cause many problems and if your starter is weak it will be even worse. New battery may fix everything.

If doing the entire axle about 1 hour, if the insides then it can take a while due to shimming and getting correct specs. Need to be more specific on your question.

That unit originally had R12 Freon in it. Unless you had a conversion installed for 134a, it wont work with that system.

The only wire that would be in that vicinity would seem to be a crankshaft sensor wire. If that is the case, you won't be able to start the engine until you connect it to the harness.

Since this is an older vehicle may I assume that the key is worn? Compare the key to other keys you have; what started out as sharp points on the key would look rounded now. Use a spare key. If the spare key does not have a chip/transponder then hold the body of worn key next to the steering column while you try the spare key. Sorry if I am off track but that seems to me the most likely situation and it might help you or someone else reading this. If you have the actual, original GM key with a serial number on it the dealer might be able to make you a fresh key.

If the clicking came from under the hood it might be a bad starter but if the clicking came from under the dash might be a relay. I have heard that a jump start can cause a bad starter to turn over. The next time it this happens find the starter and hit it with a hammer (strike the solenoid it's the soda can looking cylinder bolted to the starter, don't hit the bolts holding down the wires this will cause a major spark.) and if it starts it's definitely a bad starter. Not quite sure what you mean.

These cars have a resistor embedded into the metal shaft of the key and most of the GM line have issues with the module that reads the resistor in the switch, they stop reading the key from ware and tear. Are u sure the ignition switch is to blame for the starter not engaging

Place ur key in the switch (don't turn the key) and try starting it with the remote. If it starts it's because u haven't bypassed the security module on the ignition switch known as CAN BUS 2 I believe. If u have the same issue try turning the key to the first position known as ACC and try it again. If it still doesn't start give it another turn to the RUN position or also known as ignition. If it still doesn't turn on you will have to check ur wiring. Hope this helps.

check your fuses or replace the 4 wheel drive switch on the front end

Call someone (AAA Club Goodsam roadside) that can come out. Have it towed to a repair shop. Contact the pastime maker.

You may need to replace the fuel filter. It's along the fuel line between the fuel tank and engine somewhere along the frame. Usually under the cab. Replace it every year, or any time you think about it. (just joking, but it does need to be replaced regularly).

Sounds like a massive loss of 12 through ign switch, better check the switch and all 12v wiring in the truck, the fuse box and all the buss cables, wiggle the ign switch while idling and see if you can duplicate this, get if fixed, this is a safety issue on the road !!!!!

Did you change out your computer with a known good one to eliminate that..
