Replacing powerboat, new one not

You should replace your batteries as the motor that moved the deadbolt does not have enough power to move it with weak batteries. If that fails make sure the deadbolt moves freely when the lock is removed as the mis-aligned mounting will cause excessive force be exerted to move the deadbolt. When i try to lock

The deadbolt may very free inside the deadbolt hole... This system is low torque and a over torque clutch may slip if the dead bolt it's not completely free inside the deadbolt hole... Also, if you try to open the door before to unlock it, you may block the deadbolt... take care to unlock the door before open it. to be sure that the dead lock is ok, you can turn the manual knob and be sure is turning very very easily.

Also are you no that POWERBOLT is a 3 codes memory? go to that link to see more info about that : http://www.fixya.com/support/t8006865-not_overwrite_old_codes_just_keeps

I purchased a powerbolt, part #70-005087 and was testing it before I started drilling holes in my new steel door and it would not accept my codes and then would not fully open the door without touchin

Take it back while you can. Buy a Schlage instead. I see more problems with the Powerbolt than any other brand on this site.

Deleting Codes on a Weiser powerbolt.

The Weiser brand and Kwikset brand Powerbolt are identical (Black & Decker), so these instructions will work just fine for you:http://www.kwikset.com/Customer-Support/Product-FAQs/Faq/50160000000HhhEAAS.aspxNotice that the above is a .PDF file type. That means that you need to have Adobe Reader or similar installed on your computer to view it. So if you are unable to view the file, download (for free) and install Adobe Reader first. You can get it here:http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Have to change the key code? No manual.

You can change codes as often as you like, for use by babysitters, contractors, etc. You can also reset the lock so you can reset the master code, which is needed in order to set the other user codes.

Rather than re-type all the step-by-step instructions, since you also could benefit by having a copy of the manual for your use and reference, I'll give you a link to a free copy you can save and print.

My deadbolt will not operate either manually or electrical without the key inserted

Yours is an unusual problem--one that I'm not familiar with. You did not specify whether you have a Weiser Powerbolt or Kwikset Powerbolt--(both are subsidiaries of Black & Decker). So I suggest that you contact the appropriate Customer Service department and have a phone conversation with them about your problem. For Kwikset, call 1-800-327-5625For Weiser, call 1-800-677-5625Mon-Sat 7:30-4:00 Pacific Standard Time.Amazingly enough, they have exactly the same California address! Also bear in mind that they both have a lifetime warranty against mechanical malfunctions and finish problems with their lock, but only a one-year warranty for the internal electronics (circuit boards). The electronics can be expensive enough to make a guy consider buying another brand of lock rather than rebuilding this one--I've answered more Powerbolt problems than for any other model of lock.Good luck! Let me know what they do for you.

Deadbolt barely moves in weiser lock

I assume that you get the same results whether you operate the lock with the door open or the door closed. That is, that you've already ruled out a bind between the closed door and the door jamb.I'd recommend changing the battery first of all. At this time of year, cold weather can have a negative effect on your battery power. If you've already changed the battery and are still having the problem, you should pursue having the lock covered under warranty. Weiser has a lifetime warranty covering the mechanical operation (and finish) of their locks. Before they cover it under warranty, they are going to ask you the same questions about battery and binding that I've already mentioned. To change the battery for your lock, go to this web page:http://www.weiserlock.com/Support/Faq/50160000000HhhZAAS.aspxOr, alternately, this page for the Kwikset version, which is identical, if you have trouble loading the first page:http://www.kwikset.com/Customer-Support/Product-FAQs/Faq/50160000000HhhEAAS.aspxNotice that the above are of the " .PDF" file type. That means that you need to have Adobe Reader or similar installed on your computer to view it. So if you are unable to view the file, download (for free) and install Adobe Reader first. You can get it here:http://get.adobe.com/reader/Finally, the warranty information link:http://www.weiserlock.com/CustomerService/WarrantyInfo/Powerbolt.aspxReview it, and then follow the "Support Contact" link on that page. It's always best to contact them by phone and seek their assistance.Good luck--and please provide feedback if this helps!

Follow this link to find out how to remove the cover for your Powerbolt: http://www.kwikset.com/Customer-Support/Product-FAQs/Faq/50160000000HhhEAAS.aspx This link: http://s7d5.scene7.com/is/content/BDHHI/40486-02 is the "manual" for the installation of the lock. Programming instructions are found on Page 6. I'd recommend changing the 4 alkaline AA batteries at the same time. We put new batteries in

To determine why your lock is beeping abnormally, please follow these steps: Take out batteries and unplug powerstrip. Let it sit for 1 minute, then put the batteries back in and wait another minute. If it does not beep, the keypad needs to be replaced (17733-1). If the unit continues to beep, the powerboard needs to be replaced (A17734-3,3 Powerboard 1470 brass finish; A17734-3,26D Powerboard 1470 satin chrome finish; A17734-3,5 Powerboard 1470 antique brass finish).Navigate to the complete page that I cut this from can be found by cutting and pasting this link into your browser search bar:http://www.weiserlock.com/Support/Faq/50160000000HhhZAAS.aspxThen go to: US & International/FAQ Categories/Keyless Entry/Powerbolt 1000/Search Results/ How do I troubleshoot my Powerbolt 1000?I suggest calling the appropriate toll-free number and having a conversation with a representative about this problem, first of all to confirm that you need the part before you go through the expense. Secondly, your lock may be new enough for you to talk them into warrantying it, and thirdly, they will be able to get the correct part on order for you.Good luck--and please provide feedback if this helps!
