My acer 2490 is asking

If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.

On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.

If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.

How do I get my laptop to play dvds again it won t work

When you say play DVDs you mean watch DVD movies? Assuming the drive is not broken you need to use the DVD app. You could use VLC Player which you can download. It's an orange traffic cone icon.

My laptop after being turned on a blue screen appears and then shuts down

There are many reasons this can be happening. Try starting the computer in Safe Mode with Networking and see if the problem still exists. If not that means there's a problem with the start up boot process. Questions to consider: How old is the machine? Have you done all your updates? Possible virus. What exactly does the Blue Screen read? Is it a quick blue screen then restarts or does the blue screen stays? We are computer service company that offers remote free diagnosis. You will need to factory restore, this will lose any stored data! 1 Start the Acer Aspire One's operating system. Wait for the Acer logo to appear on the LCD screen. 2 Press the "Alt-F10" keys at the same time to bring up the recovery menu. Press "Enter." 3 Click "Next." Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to restore the operating system back to factory settings. 5 Use the drop-down boxes to select the time zone and language information for your Acer Aspire One. Restart the netbook when you are prompted to finish restoring the computer.

Reset to factory settings

Did your computer come with a recovery disc, Windows disc or have you create a recovery set of discs? If after reading all of this you find yourself overwhelmed or unwilling to try, take it to a shop. Another option to the below copied from the Help section to reach the Recovery would be to open the Control Panel. If Category view, under System and Security, select Back up your computer, then Recover system settings, **Then Advanced recovery methods. If in Icon view, select Recovery and you will be at the ** above. There's where the discs above will come into play. If.you don't have any of those, you will have to hope they have a hidden partition on the drive containing the recovery which will either show itself there or in the F8 process below.. To open the System Recovery Options menu on your computer 1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer using the computer's power button. 2. Do one of the following: *If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer. *If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8. 3. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press Enter. (If Repair your computer isn't listed as an option, then your computer doesn't include preinstalled recovery options, or your network administrator has turned them off.) 4. Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next. 5. On the System Recovery Options menu, click a tool to open it.
