2nd download recovery disk for ur laptop

then u nid a 4.7 gig blank disk then burn the recovery disk

Try removing the main battery and unplug the power then hold the power button down for 30 seconds, if that doesnt work you will need to take the cmos battery out for a minute and replace it then that will clear the password

the reason is that one of your slot ram its not working properly and B.I.OS its not recognising the hard drive so needs to be open up and remove the failed ram to the unbuffered ram make sure its 2Gat leat so. <1 remove the back of your laptop <2 remove both slots of ram and try one at a time if not working still then it maybe the screen replacement hope it helps bud

OK people, I have this old acer 290 the battery refuses to charge so I use the power adapter but when I swith it on it may quickly flash on and then hang, turns completely off dead as a door nail. this happened all the time untill one day I left the battery out of it plugged the power adapter in and the problem dissapeared. I have not yet replaced the battery so dont know if a new battery will solve the problem when reinstalled?

located near the cpu (downside circuit-board) is a little ic. resolded this - all works fine :o)

It is clear your hard disk has developed errors.
Let the disk check run completely. If is stops in the middle, that shows their is a major problem with your hard disk.
If you cancel the disk checking, the computer hangs because some of the system files are already damaged due to the hard disk error.
One thing you can do is to backup everything and format the hard disk and reinstall the operating system and the software.
If the hard disk error is propagating type (i.e. the amount damaged keeps increasing), you will have to reinstall the OS every 2 to 4 weeks.
In this case it is better to replace your hard disk.

Run Reginout Scan in Safe Mode.
