I have that same model and that same problem. In fact, this problem was there from the start! That's why I haven't touched my Brother Xr7700 for years. This time around I changed the needle and everything went to hell!

E6 code for brother xr7700

E6 means the machine is seizing somewhere and the motor is working too hard to turn the hard-to-turn machine. Get is serviced before it seized completely and the cost of repair goes even higher.

I've taken it apart to thoroughly clean and fix problems, but stupidly forgot to label my screws.

You could come over to my house, I'll help you. But your Brother repair shop is probably closer...

How do I fix the dogs when they won't feed the fabric?

The feed dogs on that machine (and many others) do not go back up when you move the feed dog drop button to up; they return to the up (feeding) position after the machine makes a stitch or two. So if they won't come back up after you tinkered with them, you will now need to bring it in for servicing.

The top thread isnt working its all loose

try changing the needle Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use of your sewing machine. Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the needle clamp screw to remove the old needle. Place the new needle in the needle clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back, (round needle, the groove in the needle should face away from the shaft). Push the needle all the way up as far as it will go. Then tighten the needle clamp screw.try adjusting the top thread tension one number or letter at a timetill the stitch looks normal & see if that helps the stitch to not be loose

I think that you will find that monogramming is done free style, we used to lower the feed dog and put our piece to be monogrammed into an embroidery hoop then use a satin stitches and sew whatever we wanted. You can call Brother. I downloaded your manual (after looking at your manual) I see what you mean
