On the base of the machine , and on the top, there should be holes that look they should be screw holes. Those are where you oil your machine.
How do I fix the dogs when they won't feed the fabric?
The feed dogs on that machine (and many others) do not go back up when you move the feed dog drop button to up; they return to the up (feeding) position after the machine makes a stitch or two. So if they won't come back up after you tinkered with them, you will now need to bring it in for servicing.
The top thread isnt working its all loose
try changing the needle
Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use of your sewing machine.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the needle clamp screw to remove the old needle.
Place the new needle in the needle clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back, (round needle, the groove in the needle should face away from the shaft).
Push the needle all the way up as far as it will go. Then tighten the needle clamp screw.try adjusting the top thread tension one number or letter at a timetill the stitch looks normal & see if that helps the stitch to not be loose

You can call Brother. I downloaded your manual (after looking at your manual) I see what you mean
