Nikon D700 Digital Camera - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Vertical lines showing up on D700 images
Hi
Given its age - almost 10 years now, while you don't want drama you can expect them.
I had same probs with a Sony - green and yellow lines - then later on a horizontal split in the pics - with the bottom out of alignment with the top.
Nikon should be able to quote for a repair - its a quality, full frame camera worth a proper repair. Despite its now small size 12 meg sensor it will still beat a lot of today's cameras
in the hands of a good photographer.
Cheers
Mike

Monitor screen will not turn on.
The problem stated by you is not contain full information.
Monitor screen not turning on due to, screen failure, connector flex cut inside, if you can see images on computer means screen has failed. Replace it at a authorised cameta outlet.

Is it possible to disassemble a nikon d700 hotshoe
Don't attempt to repair your camera if you are not trained. Cameras have many interlocking parts and you may not be able to reassemble everything because it is not always a matter of simply doing things in reverse order. The repair bill will be lower if you don't tamper with it yourself. Contact 1-800-Nikon-US (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday for assistance.

Nikon d700 hotshoe missfire with flash nikon sb900
Probably a loose hotshoe. This is a common problem with the D700 hotshoe and SB900 combo. The weight of the SB900 eventually loosens the hotshoe, meaning the internal screws holding the hotshoe in place loosens.

Can't download from D700 camera to computer
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Nikon Transfer and
Picasa.

Moving focus
Check the focus selector lock, located just below the multiselector (the cursor pad with the arrows). Make sure it's not in the "L" position, which locks the focus area.

Incorrect exposure on NIkon D700
It sounds like you've got exposure bracketing turned on.Refer to the "Bracketing" subsection of the "Exposure" section of the manual (page 130 in my copy). If you need a manual, you may download a copy
here.

I want to setup my
Hi,
To setup the D700 so it only takes photos in black & white you go into the menu then go into shooting menu, then select 'Set Picture Control', then you can chose 'Monochrome' which will make all photos black & white. That's how you set it so every shot taken is in black and white; otherwise if you only want specific shots in black & white I'd suggest shooting in colour and then getting a program like Adobe Lightroom where you can batch edit photo's into black & white since it's easy to go colour to black & white but difficult to go black & white to colour. If I can help you out anymore let me know =)

Dear sirs,
I ahve a D700
Make sure the ISO is set to the lowest number or even to "auto ISO". The
best way to avoid these lighting problems is to adjust
your aperture settings, your shutter speed and your film speed when
shooting. Additional details about thus sibject could find in the owners manual, in section about Settings & Mode.
Other possibilitie, remote but possible, could be a problem with the ccd (the light sensitive chip that produces the
image) or the connection to it. If the lines are present on photos after
they are downloaded and / or printed, it points to this problem. while
your camera is not on any current list of cameras for possible free
repair, the information at the link below may be of interest to you
since more and more newer models have the identical problem: Click on or
copy and paste the link into your browser...

I can transfer images from my nikon d700 to my
Your computer is looking for a mass storage device. Go through the camera menu system and make sure "USB Connection" is set to Mass Storeage, then Windows will automatically install the drivers.
