My brand new Nikon D60 camera refuses to hold onto an SD card that I insert. It mwas working fine this morning, I removed the card to transfer pictures to my laptop and when I tried to re insert the card it refused to click into place and just pops out again. If I hold it in place with my finger the camera will read it but as soon as I move my finger it pops back out.
Check your SD card, there may be a piece of it missing. Did the same to my camera and looking into the card holder, there was a piece of SD card lying at th bottom! (I used a needle to dislodge it!)

Nikon D60 memory card problem. When i turn my camera on i get the error message: Memory card is locked. Slide to "write'' position. However, my memory card is NOT locked, it works in other cameras,and when i put a different memory card in my D60 it says the same thing. The camera is fairly new, and i really need it next week. How do i fix this?
check your sd card, there's a tiny bar on the side that you can "slide" to unlock...

Hello. I've just opened my brand new D60 and having charged the battery the camera posts the following message: ''This battery cannot be used. Choose battery designated for use in this camera.'' We own another D60 in the family and the new battery works in the old camera but the old battery doesn't work in the new camera. This suggests to me that the battery isn't the problem afterall. Is there something else we could try.
yep ...look in the menu ...of the camera ..and select the type of battery u are using ..there are 2 kinds of batteries ...one of them are alkaline ...and the other I'm not sure ..probably nickel or lithium ..or something like that ...anyway there are choices there ..and you just have to try 'am one by one ...
it will also accept only high quality non chargeable ones ...so ..even if they work in other device ..in this kinda cameras it will see 'em as empty if they arent great in quality and amperage ...

nikon d60 - ''error. turn camera off and on again.''
i've turned camera off and on.
i've removed battery and put back in, and same with the sd card.
the camera was working just fine before this happened.
i can't find any info on this type of error...any ideas???
Locate the button behind the shutter release button with the green dot next to it. Locate the button at the back lower hand side of the D60 with the green dot next to it. Press both buttons at the same time.........This resets the D60 to its original settings and should resolve the problem.....

Nikon D60 won't turn on and the battery is charged, i'm getting nothing at all. The camera was left on for an extended period of time, is it possible the battery is dead. the camera is only six months old
Usually, when your battery has been in the charger long enough for it to be fully charged, the indicator light either changes color, or turns off. This indicates that the charge is complete.
Does your light do either, change color or turn off?
If neither of these works right, check your user manual, usually in the back, which will tell you what the indicator lights mean.
If your camera and battery are doing what they are supposed to be doing, then you may have bought a faulty camera, or the battery which came with it was faulty.
Be certain to read the manual very carefully, to be certain that you are following the instructions properly. If you have done everything right, then return the camera and or battery to the place from which you purchased the camera, and have them check it out to ensure that all is proper.

I have a Nikon D60 and my autofocus has stopped working. It is not because of the lense because i have tried other lenses and the auto focus won't work with them either so it must be an issue with the body.
You should check custom menu setting 2, and make sure it's set to one of the auto modes. Make sure the lenses you are using are AF-S and not regular AF lenses. The D60 has no autofocus motor, so autofocus only works with AF-S lenses.
I always suggest folks take a look at Ken Rockwell's website also, here's a link to a specific page on autofocus on the D60.

The error is with the shutter release button and the unit has to be taken apart....Get it repaired by Nikon it is a common problem with these units.

Hi, my battery in the D60 is stuck in the camera. I can't remove it
I cant see how that can be possible unless the battery has swollen due to heat.
Make sure any latches are held open and tap base of camera onto your hand (over a mat on the table in case battery falls out). Also try to attach sticky tape to side of battery (if enough space to slide some in) and pull on it.
It seems VERY unlikely that it is stuck, are you sure you didn't miss a latch?

I cannot figure out how to get the battery out of this thing!!!!!
Open the battery cover by sliding the latch toward the center of the camera and flipping the lid up. Holding the other side of the camera, lightly slam the end with the open battery compartment against the cupped palm of your other hand and the battery should slide out a little. Grasp the battery and pull it out the rest of the way.
