Nikon D80 Digital Camera - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have the NIKON D80 and I have lost my menu, I can take pictures but I can not change anysettings. Any sugestion?
You might try shooting with the camera set on manual IF you can read the aperture and shutter speed settings. But, the fact is...if you can't access your menu the camera is one-step from being totally useless. You need to contact Nikon support to see if it might be possible to fix the problem by downloading the current firmware version. Unfortunately, I think his situation will require sending the camera to an authorized Nikon service center for a repair but contact Nikon support first at
www.Nion.com.

Nikon d80 err code
While I can't speak specifically to the D-80, my D-90 users manual say the ERR message indicates a camera malfunction and can be cleared by tripping the shutter. The only way I can do this on my D-90 is to turn the camera off and back on. Sometimes, but not often, I have completely remove the battery and reinstall it. The users manual also says that if the problem persists to contact a Nikon service center. I suggest you contact Nikon support at
www.nikon.com before you consider repairs.

The FUNC button in the D80 does not work
In the menu settings, you need to assign the Func button to do something. The Func button alone will not operate until you assign a task. The tasks available are listed in the menu setting for the Func button.

Nekon d80 erro problem
The ERR message indicates a camera malfunction. In my D-90 manual it says that it can be cleared by releasing the shutter. The only way to do that is to turn the camera off and back on. Rarely, that won't work and you have to remove and reinstall the battery.
The manual also says that it this have frequently or persist to contact a Nikon authorized service center. I would contact Nikon tech support at
www.Nikon.com and discuss the problem them before contacting an authorized service center.

Nikon d80 reset button
On the top right side of the D-80 are two buttons marked with a green dot. They are the "AF" button and the "+/-" button. Press these two buttons at the same time and hold them down for several seconds. This will reset all resettable functions to the factory default settings.

D80 will not turn on...battery fully charged
I would contact Nikon tech support at
www.nikon.com. They may be able to give you some suggestions. It appears from what you said that the camera is not seeing the battery and that may indicate that your contacts in the battery compartment are dirty and need cleaning.

PG UP ERROR IN NIKON D 200 CAMERA
Is this a D80 or a D200?If you had a failure during firmware upgrade, then your circuit board is trashed. Send it to Nikon - it requires software to replace.

JPEG storage reduced
Don't confuse bytes with pixels. A pixel is point of color. A byte is a unit of computer storage. A picture with 10 million pixels may or may not require 10 million bytes of storage. As an exercise, take a picture outside your window, properly exposed and focused. Now put your camera into manual mode, select a fast shutter speed (1/1000 will do), put the lens cap on, and take a picture. Compare the two file sizes. The first file should have a lot of detail in it and will be quite a bit larger. The second file should be all black. The two pictures will have the same number of pixels, but require different amounts of storage. In the worst case, each pixel will require three bytes to specify its color. JPEG files will be compressed so it's not quite this bad. At the other extreme, it doesn't take many bytes to say "3872x2592 pixels, every one of them absolutely black."

Lcd doesnt work for picture taking
It's not supposed to. The D80 works as SLRs have worked for half a century, allowing you to frame the picture through the viewfinder. The LiveView capability was introduced with later cameras such as the D90 and D300. On the D80 the display is used for settings, menus, and reviewing pictures after they've been taken.
