How do i light the pilot light

Dryers do not have pilot light, you either have a spark or a hot surface igniter. Both are electrically activated.

My gas kenmore 80 series is not heating?

ELECTRIC Dryer no heat or little heat: Check your venting and lint basket. Check blower for lint build up and blower wheel obstruction., test by trying to turn the wheel manually by hand (should be easy) May have to remove cabinet or front/back plate to get to it) Next check the heating element itself with a meter for continuity OHMS CLOSED CIRCUIT. If not its defective. Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage. 220 because if u only get half or 110 volts you will be able to run the machine which uses only 110 to run motor but not the heater which uses a full 220, Check the thermal cut off, the cycling and the hi limit thermostats. For continuity or OHMS. If no ohms or resistance they need replacement. Lastly check your moister sensor. ( located inside the dryer door usually) Especially if machine seems to shut down early and clothes are still wet. Test with a meter at room temperature and it should show continuity.

No heat

Hi abbey Here are a few things to check: ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT. Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:Check your WiringOften the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. If this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.Check the Door SwitchIf the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch.Check to make sure you heating problem is not a lint build up in the discharge hose or inside of the dryer venting system,as this condition can cause heater/thermistor problems such as overheating of the heating coil leading to failure of the coil and burnout of the heating element/thermostat/thermistor due to overheat. Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil. You should read continuity across the terminals, if you do not read continuity you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty. If the heating coil is ok, then: You can check the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape.Try to run the dryer, if it runs and heats up then replace the thermal fuse/thermistor/thermostat. If you have an ohm meter then you can test the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse, then you do not have to tape the wires together as described above. But do not trust the ohm meter all the time, because sometimes it will give a false positive that the fuse is ok when in reality it is faulty.DO THE FOLLOWING TEST:To test your thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse remove the wires from the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse and check the fuse/thermostat,thermistor for continuity, if you DO NOT have continuity then replace the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse.DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST AS THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE BECAUSE YOU HAVE REMOVED THE SAFETY.This test of the thermal fuses, thermistor, thermostat, will show if the thermal fuse, thermostat, thermister is really faulty or not.Check your blower wheel to make sure it is secure to the shaft and not plugged with lint, socks, etc. If you have to replace your blower wheel it will remove clockwise as looking at the blower wheel. You will have to hold the belt end of the motor with a vise grip pliers or maybe the shaft of the motor has a notch cut on it for a wrench to fit.If the thermal fuse overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, remove both wires from the thermal fuse and put the test probes to each of the ends of the thermal fuse, if no continuity then replace the thermal fuse.If you do not have a volt/ohm meter then:DO THE FOLLOWING: Remove the wires and tape them together and try to start the dryer. If the dryer starts then replace the fuse.A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat. Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on air fluff/no heat, and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system. If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly. All of the fuses check out element is good all conections good but no heat

There are 5 switch-like elements in series with the heater element, according to one diagram I found (Google "kenmore 80 dryer wiring diagram"). If any of these is open you won't get heat. If you're handy with a VOM, it's any easy problem to track down. Start at the element -- you should see 240VAC across it. If you do, the element is bad. If you don't, check across all the other switch-like things. You should read 0VAC across each of them if they're closed (good) or open (bad). It's a relatively easy matter to find a single open element, slightly more complicated if there are several. Or, start across the 2 240VAC line legs. You should read 240VAC; if not, your problem is outside the dryer (circuit breakers DO fail). If so, there is an open somewhere in the circuit preventing current flow. Move one of your VOM test leads through the circuit from that 240VAC leg all the way around to the other leg. It will continue to show 240VAC until you pass over the open element (a switch-thing, a bad piece of wire (unlikely), or the heater element), at which time it will show 0VAC. When that happens, the problem is in the element you just passed over. If you're lucky, it will be an easily-replaced part.

Drum spins off center and clothes get stuck between drum and casing

If your clothes get marked or torn in your dryer, check these:

Rollers
Rear seal
Front glides
Front seal
Rollers Your dryer may use rollers, or wheels, to support the rear of the clothes drum. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rollers wear out, you need to replace the whole set.

Rear seal Your dryer may have a felt-like seal at the rear of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, clothes can get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rear seal wears out, you need to replace it.

Front glides Your dryer probably uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set.

Front seal Many dryers have a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer may get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the seal wears out, you need to replace it.
