My laptop freezes at hp

Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after just after you switch On until you get Safe Mode Option.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

I use a HP Compaq

When it hangs if you wait does it come back to life again?
I'd strongly reccomend installing a new operating system, maybe on a different drive to save your current one, and see if it still hangs on that.
I've had this issue with countless pc's, unfortunately I've always gone through my usual processes and fixed it without ever knowing (or caring) why it happened in the first place. But I'd start with a new installation of the operating system on a different hard drive as the first step in your diagnosis for sure. I'd also say its very likely that will fix it anyway, and if it doesnt then its a hardware issue of some kind (can be diagnosed further to find out exactly what)

Hi.

Look at the top right of the keyboard for key which has "prtsc" prtscr" or Print Screen" on it. The key is usually located to right of the F12 key.
As soon as you have hit the print screen key open up paint which is located by clicking on the start menu > all programs > accessories > paint.

When paint has opened and in the middle of the window right click your mouse and select paste. You will then see a screen shot of your desktop appear. To save it choose either save or save as.

Regards.

Screen goes black after a few seconds, picture is

Backlight is turning off.
The inverter has a problem, or the bulb itself needs to be replaced.
See if you can find a cheap inverter and replace that first. It's almost always the problem.
If you see any bad capacitors on the inverter board when you are removing it, you may want to try repairing the inverter board first before getting a replacement.

If however the screen has a purplish color where it should be white (for the duration that it IS on) then the bulb is the issue.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Nc6220 driver for VGA

Hi, CLICK HERE to go to download page. Select your operating system on the page and you will have access to all the drivers for that model. There are 2 possible graphics adapters listed. ATI, and Intel. Try Intel first as most of the ones I have seen have this VGA. If during installation it stops and tells you " no device found setup will now exit" then try the ATI driver package.

1 many times the the CD cant load as the files in the CD are corrupt or the CD is not read by the drive corectly...so get a new WinXP CD
2 try an external CD drive if your BIOS alows to boot from USB drive....(connect the external CD drive to the USB and make necessary changes to the BIOS boot seq in the BIOS screen...
BIOS screen can be enabled by pressing the F1, or F2 or the Del key as on as you start the PC
3 once in BIOS screen look for boot seq and change the boot drive to the foll
1st boot device - USB CD / DVD rom drive
2nd boot device - internal CD rom drive
and so on

if you can do the above then try the WinXP installation using the external CD rom drive....
else there is a little complicated method of using a pen drive thru USB (will discuss that later) provided your BIOS alows booting from USB

Slow perfomance

Copied from one of my earlier solutions:

Here are some tips for speeding up a computer:

-Remove programs from your Windows startup by pressing Win+R and typing msconfig.
-Uninstall programs you don't need
-Use CCleaner to clean up unneeded temporary files
-Disable windows services (look up a guide on Google for a list of services you can safely disable)
-Keep your software up to date.
-Look for suspicious processes in your task manager and Google them to see if they are viruses.

These tips won't help much if the slowness of your computer is caused by a specific problem like a damaged part, but they usually make your computer a little more responsive.

If you have any specific issues that could be causing this, list them here.
