Black stripe down the middle of dell laptop screen

first plug into a destop monitor to make sure no video card problems

if the screen lights up inverter is good
the next thing is to try the cheapest thing first
would be the ribbon cable , may be loose or bad
everytime the screen is open and closed it may tugg on it a bit
but if you were to tap the back of the screen and see changes in the display, it could be the ribbon cable

other than that it woudl be the lcd if it always stays in the same place
older laptop screens are sold for around 50 dollars on ebay
but the new laptops are expensive

When i plug my pc I get no power indication. does

Check the cable on the power adapter, and make sure that it is plugged tightly into the wall, AC adapater, and then into the Notebook.. I know it seems obvious, but sometimes the connections are not tight.

Check the power outlet or plug it into another receptacle.

If you are still experiencing the same problem, does it still run on battery power?

Does the power indicator on the task bar.. or other area depending on what operating system you are running.

please let me know if this answer was helpful to you by rating my reply.

Thank you and have a good day !

2 inch black stripe down rhs of the screen on my Dell Laptop

Laptop screen failure! oh dear , this could be one of many things

1. Worst one first , the screens about to fail and you need a new one , but you may as well buy a new laptop for the price of some screens!

2. The monitor cable may be slightly loose or faulty. If you are comfortable dismantling a laptop it may just be an option of reseating the cable , or replacing the cable. If you are not comfortable with laptop disassembly , dont proceed as you will void your warranty. Take it to a computer reapir shop and get them to have a look for you.

3.Problem with your graphics drivers. Visit the Dell support site and make sure you have the latest available graphics drivers for your laptop

If you found this useful , please rate my solution below

My toshiba satellite m30 display is not coming up

one of 2 things you can do.

first try to see if you can press down and hold the fn or function key and then press one of the F1 or F2 buttons at the top that shows a monitor picture and press that button and let both go.

see it will the screen to switch form internal to external and back again by repeating.

second you will have to go to safe mode when the computer is restarting and tapping the F8 key while it is loading from first stating it. make sure to tap the F8 only 1 or 2 a second otherwise keyboard will occur.

once you get into the safe mode you need to login through your login that has the problem and once in there you need to go to the display properties page and click settings and adjust your resolution down to the lowest setting there is and then reboot.

see if that corrects the issue with 1 of the 2 solutions.

FORGOT HDD SYSTEM PASSWORD CANT OPEN TOSHIBA SATELLITE A105?

There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but I’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password
You can use the ISO to burn a boot CD. Follow these instructions:
1. Download ISO file from http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com Windows Password Recovery Tool
2. Burn to a CD using a CD burning tool such as Nero or Roxio or MagicISO
3. Insert CD into drive and reboot.
4. You may have to select an option in the BIOS to get the computer to boot from the CD.
Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

Screen problems

Have you check the cable connected from your laptop and external monitor?

If yes but problem persist, check and update video driver. If still doesn't work I suspected your LCD screen is faulty and needs to be replace.

If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the replacement of the part.

Will not boot up

So I"m assuming that you're able to boot up off a Windows disc? If that is the situation then your hard drive is bad. That is the reason it is hanging when you first start the computer is that it can't find a bootable device. When you try to install Windows and it can't find a partition is because your hard drive is bad and can't be seen. Need to buy a new one.

Can't view any web pages

Hi there.
Make sure that the switch on the front of the laptop is turned on and the LED indicator light is on.
Use the keyboards wireless toggle which is Fn-F8 or Fn-F2.
If this does not work reset your router and the modem by removing the power cords from the back of them for 2 mins (don't unplug from the wall) then after 2 mins plug them both back in and wait again for them to reset and try to reconnect to the internet.
Please post back with the results and for any additional help if needed.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
