Black screen
The most common problem is that your laptop is overheating. Second most common, damaged operating system.
Try removing any dust from the laptop's processor heatsink. If you are uncomfortable doing this, your local computer shop should be able to help.

I can't open my yahoo mail
I will assume that you are using Internet Explorer to get to Yahoo.
Try downloading and installing Firefox browser, or Google Chrome browser, both free small downloads.
If this fixes the ability to get to yahoo, then cool.
If not then do this:
Vista or Windows 7:
Find the command prompt icon in all programs.
Right mouse click on it an click run as administrator.
This will bring up a command prompt window.
Type the following:
netsh winsock reset
Press enter.
Restart computer.
Windows XP:
Start run CMD, click ok, then type the following:
netsh winsock reset
Press enter
Restart computer.
let us know if you have success or not.
Good Luck!
