First thing you want to do is print the print quality test pages. Using the up and down keys and the enter key, you want to go through menus as follows: Troubleshooting>PQ test. This prints unique single color pages for each cartridge. If you a small amount of each color it is possible that you may have defective cartridges. As well, one bad cartridge can cause all the colors to not print. Yellow cartridges are bad for causing this. Have you recently changed cartridges in the printer? You may have gotten a bad one, it happens, especially if you are using refilled or 3rd party cartridges.

You can also run the Disable Cartridge Check diag.
This test will enable you to pull all the cartridges out, and put the black into any other slot. Then print the Configuration Page and see if the problem follows the black cartridge. If it prints good this way. Put the Cyan into the top slot(black), print the config page. If it prints bad, it's not the cartridge it's the printer.
I think that replacing the Black Cartridge should solve your problem.

Printer not printing black issues looking printer head problem. check the following Steps for cleaning printer head :

Click on the Start button if you have Windows XP. If you have Windows Vista, click the Windows icon that resides in the lower left corner of your computer screen.

Click on "Control Panel," then "Printers and Other Hardware." Finally click on "View Installed Printers or Fax Printers."

Right-click on the name of your printer and choose "Printing Preferences." This should open a new window; next look for a tab or button marked Maintenance, or something similar.

Find the button that says "Print heads" or "Clean the Print heads" and click on it. You may be asked to choose which print heads; choose them all if you are. Make sure there is paper and ink in your printer, and that it is turned on ahead of time.

Take out the page your printer has printed and see if there are any grids or boxes missing. If there aren't, then you can just exit the program--your print heads are not clogged. If there are grids missing, then click on the "Cleaning" or similarly worded button.

Once the cleaning process has completed, print another page to be sure that your print heads are no longer clogged. If they are still clogged, repeat Steps 1-5 until your printer is printing clearly.

Go to HP website, locate your model, then put in error massage. They will tell you the problem and solution.

there is on the bottom tray a piece that can be moved it pushed till the end of the tray you have to push the piece first like a button then it will be released and you can push it till the end of the tray

The vertical lines are a result of a dirty rollers and /or developer ..fuser....so all you have to do is to open it and clean all the parts that gets in contact with the paper..cause static electricity caused something to retain ink in that area...probably a stray corp ...

It's clear that the problem is with the black cartridge, perhaps the improper closing of the front door. Please check that there's no cracks or broken on the cartridges and it's corresponding parts on the printer. The dot could be from the cyan toner cartridge. There could be a mark or scratch on the image drum surface underneath the cartridge shutter. If it is a toner mark it can be carfully cleaned with a lens cloth. If scratched or nicked the cartridge will have to be replaced.

Please delete the present installation, and power down the printer, do a fresh installation, and please follow the instruction carefully, and be ascertain its the same for the OS on your system
