LG Flatron L1951S 19" LCD Flat Panel Monitor Questions & Answers
Monitor automatically clicks into power saving mode
I have an LG W2261V, and an old Sharp LL-T19D1-H. The PC runs both just fine, and the PSU has plenty of power. Unfortunately the LG handles power save mode very differently, where the LG would not switch on after entering this mode unless reset (unplugged, PC rebooted, etc). Extremely frustrating, as the old Sharp never had any problems exiting its own power save mode. The LG would enter this mode based on the monitor power settings (in whatever power scheme you are using) in the screensaver tab in display properties. I fixed this by selecting "Never" for "the Turn off monitor" property. I guess this is a warning to those who may wish to buy a new LG monitor, but want to use a power scheme to turn off the monitor.
MY LG FLATRON L1951S, THE OSD IS LOCKED. HOW CAN I
On screen display is locked. Fix it by:
The OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu button on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the warning message OSD Lock displays for ten seconds.
* If the OSD is locked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD.
* If the OSD is unlocked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to lock the OSD.
There are only red, blue and green colours displayed on my LG tv
This can be the panel check required during manufacturing sessions.
Your only choice is to call the experts in to perform a selfcheck so that the whole system can be rebooted.
A self check is like when you reformat and reinstall your windows into your PC. Everything is back at default condition. Only technicians know the coordination between the remote control and the key button.
Above solution is if you are very lucky, if not can be a loose wire dressing inside the TV itself.
Unlucky is the data board has to be replaced. Usually nowadays technicians replace the whole board so that no time is wasted to find the exact problem. So it should be OK for you.
Monitor won't turn on
1) Monitor internal socket can be loose.
a) At your risk, open the rear screws of the monitor and check the connector. You might need to solder back the connector.
Remember monitors are notoriously dangerous. Though the LCD is not as the CRT, it still has a capacitor that takes time to discharge. You WILL be electrocuted if you accidentally touch it. Can be mild, leading to cardiac arrest or fatal. (no kidding: I work in a TV section) So highest recommendation
a) Get a new monitor
b) Get a pro to do it.
Note: It switches ON maybe because at that point the connection is aligned well from the source to the PCB.
