The printer starts by itself and starts to print

As soon as I turn on my printer, it starts to print something but then stops in the middle and gets stuck, and there is nothing printed on the half of the page sticking out. How can I fix this?

I think I may have solved this problem. What I did was take out the #56 cartridge and hit the print button. It started to calibrate and then said it was printing on reserve or something? Yup, it printed with only one (#57 cartridge). After that, I stuck in a new #56 cartridge and so far so good for it only happened yesterday.

I hope this solves your cartridge #57 failed problem. Let me know if it does.

Printer paper jam

had a similar problem on a cheap deskjet printer: could not find any paper stuck anywhere. then i turned it over and removed a little door, and there was a small potato chip laying in there. works fine again.

HP 7660 Printer Ink Levels in Windows 7

I had tried all the tips and tricks, small driver downloads etc from the net, but still could not see my ink levels.
Tried the hold the Power/Cancel buttons trick, still no luck ...
The solution is obvious now :-)
Use the menu on the printer to print a test page, this is different from the one that software will print.
Amongst other things it will give you :
Black & Colour Cartridge Ink Levels.
Black & Colour Test Patterns.
Colour Bars.
Model Nos - Firmware etc.
I spent days looking for this and it was right infront of me.
(It's 5 pushes of the left Menu button to get to it)

I lost my cd drive

Hey Andrew,
You can download the software from here - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=305364&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

You'll to choose an operating system and then press on next. Afterward, you need to press on a plus sign next to the driver and continue from there. Good luck!

How to replace a cartrige?

The Basic Setup Guide, page 12 shows how do do this. Following is what you can do.

To install or replace the print cartridges:
1. If the printer is off, press the ON button on the printer's control panel.
2. Lift the top cover of the printer.
3. Push down on the print cartridge latch and pull it forward. The print cartridge latch pops open.
4. If you are replacing a print cartridge, slide out the old print cartridge and store, recycle, or discard it. pull off tabs from new cartridge.

How do I get my

Power off the printer and then unplug the printers USB cable from the PC. Now turn on the printer and plug the USB cable back into your PC. This should correct the issue. You can also go to "Control Panel" and select "Printers and Faxes". Then right click on your printers icon and see if it says that the printer is offline.
