Rattling noise after changing the planetary gear

The housing has to be worn if the bearing has play. Try a little tape around the bearing, or some thin brass shim stock. Of course epoxy may be a solution, if applied around the i.d. of the bearing seat. A little shortning on the bearing will keep it from sticking to the epoxy.

Kitchen Aid 550 Pro Mixer New Worm Gear and Worm Gear Follower Issue

It would be helpful to get the model number and serial number off of the bottom of the mixer. This will help determine if the gearing has changed at all.Usually when a mixer is making a lot of noise after replacing the gears we can find a small nick or gouge in the gear. even the smallest damage can cause these mixers to make a lot of noise. Also if you have an older mixer there was a change in the worm gear from 53 teeth to 60 teeth on the gear. If your mixer originally took a 53 tooth gear, and you replaced it with the 60 tooth gear it will make a lot of noise like you are describing. So first check your serial number, if the first 4 digits are after WL45 your mixer would have a 60 tooth gear, however if it is a WL44 or before you would have originally had a 53 tooth gear and this is what is causing the loud noise. If your mixer is new enough that it took the 60 tooth gear, then take the mixer apart, clean and remove all gears, clean them off with wd-40 and inspect closely, even the smallest chip can cause a ton of noise. Motor clicks every turn

The clicking is probably a small nick in one of the gears, even the smallest chip can cause alot of noise or make the mixer click. Is the beater shaft still turning when you have a load in the mixer (bowl is full) Or is it just clicking? If the beater stops turning it is going to be caused by stripped gears, however if it is just clicking this would indicate just a nick in the gear. Either way I would recommend opening the mixer and replacing the damaged gear/gears.Your mixer is considered a 5 Quart Professional, which means it has the same parts as a KitchenAid 6 quart mixer. The first thing you will want to do is take the mixer apart and disassemble the gearing. You will want to clean off the gears with paper towels and wd-40. Carefully inspect each gear once clean and replace damaged gears. In the professional mixers when a gear strips you need to replace the grease and housing gasket, this is because the gears are all metal and there may be metal shavings in the grease which could cause the gears to strip again. The most common gear to go bad in the Professional series mixers is the Worm Follower Gear (9706529). Here is a link to that gear on our website: http://www.mendingshed.com/wormfollower.htmlAlso, here is a link to the service manual for the mixer, this will aid you in taking the mixer apart and putting it back together correctly. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/mendingshed/kitchenaid6qtservicemanual.pdfWe are one of KitchenAid's largest service centers within the US, and all parts we sell are genuine KitchenAid products. When raised to do whipping my professional 550 hd mixer attachment does not scrap the bowl to mix properly

You can adjust the mixer bowl up and down slightly. If you lower your bowl and look at the back you will see a little screw, it looks like a flat head screw and it is on the "neck" of the mixer. You can raise and lower the bowl by adjusting this cam screw. You can tell that your bowl is adjust correctly by attaching the flat beater and put a dime in the bottom of the bowl, the beater should just barely touch the dime and move it around the bottom of the bowl. The beater will not scrape the sides of the bowl, if you are wanting the sides of the bowl scraped I would recommend the Flex Edge Beater made by KitchenAid which is basically a flat beater with a rubberized edge which will scrape the side of the bowl as it rotates. Here is a link to the flex edge beater on our website: http://www.mendingshed.com/kfe6l.htmlLet me know if you have any other questions.Thank you,ColleenCustomer ServiceMendingShed.com800-339-9297

KitchenAid Professional 5 Quart stand mixer grain mill won't grind?

From what I know about these and industrial Hobart mixers is that where drive gears are on a shaft they are held by a shear pin that goes right through the gear and the shaft. They are made to shear if the grinder or planetary head is strained. It shears the pin instead of damaging the motor or shredding gears. When they do shear, there is often enough friction to turn the attachment, but not enough force under load. I see two shear pins in this diagram 19/8 and part 14/8. The diagram also show the orientation of bevel gears. https://www.google.com/search?q=olympus+s924+manual A Moulinex Coffee Mill might be a better solution for grinding wheat. ..

Can i use it to make panko?

Panko are made with a special non-fermented bread that has no crust. You can however make good breadcrumbs with old hard bread and if you want it to be like Panko, pulse it and leave the crumbs coarse. I am a trade chef and use Panko a lot. Panko (???) is a type of flaky bread crumbs used in Japanese cuisine as a crunchy coating for fried foods, such as tonkatsu. Panko is made from bread baked by electrical current, which yields a bread without a crust, and then grinding the bread to create fine slivers of crumb.[1] It has a crisper, airier texture than most types of breading found in Western cuisine and maintains its texture baked or deep fried, resulting in a lighter coating.[2] Outside Japan, its use is becoming more popular in both Asian and non-Asian dishes. It is often used on seafood and is often available in Asian markets, speciality stores, and, increasingly, in many large supermarkets. Panko is produced worldwide, particularly in Asian countries, including Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, China, and Vietnam.

110v KitchenAid artisan running twice the stir speed.

It's a 110 volt 1200 watt mixer and you are supplying it with 220 volts 500 watts of electricity through the inverter.https://www.walmart.com/ip/110V-Stand-Mixer-1200W-6-Speed-Tilt-Head-Electric-Food-Mixer-Dough-Hook-Mixing-Beater-Whisk-Splash-Guard-4-2QT-Stainless-Steel-Bowl-Red/353191351Now for the odd part, an 'inverter' takes a small number of volts usually 12 volts DC (direct current) and inverts it into 110 volts AC (alternating current) inverting the sine wave at 60 cycles per second..If you have a 220 volts supply and want to power an appliance that is 110 volts, you need a TRANSFORMER not an inverter. You are taking 220 volts AC and transforming it into 110 volts AC. That transformer needs to be able to supply more watts than your appliance. In your case 1,500 to 2,000 watts output. Something like this. My advice, buy a new mixer, sell the old one back home.https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSKJ-Converter-Transformer-220V-110V-Appliances/dp/B07CPNTNDD?th=1..

Hobart KitchenAid K5-A. Just replaced the grease and on reassembly, the planetary housing won't line up (vertically) with the pin hole.

Sounds like movement on the shaft. Grab the end of the shaft with grips and pull it towards you. Then put the gear on without pushing it back in. Here is a parts schematic, but lots of parts are obsolete. I could do with one of these myself for making bread! https://www.ereplacementparts.com/kitchenaid-k5a-mixer-parts-c-114958_114959_290214.html ..
