Hi,
First install software driver if finish, connect your scanner USB cable to USB ports of CPU(make sure that your USB ports working good, test also using your USB flash drive).then you can see on screen automatic detect your scanner. if not detected try to change your USB scanner data cable. then try again connect to USB ports of CPU.

Most computer accessories, printers and scanners today use USB connectors between the unit and the computer. The older scanners do not have USB capability and will not be compatible with the newer computers. Only with add-on cards and cables can they be made to work.

As for selling it you would do better to donate it to Goodwill etc and get the tax donation slip for it.

If your scanner does have the newer USB connector, you will only have a $10 +/- scanner. The software, Corel Draw is outdated and not compatible with the new operating systems. There may be an update available from Corel which may require a prior product registration to qualify for. However most software packages included with printer and scanners etc are "SE" special editions, which are very basic trial versions and not the full featured retail versions.

Contact Mustek to see if they have an upgrade set or you will need to wait till someone gets around to either writing a new one or hacking a new one

there is not drivers or software made for Windows XP.
however, you can use the win98 or WinME software. as long as the Windows Xp is running at 32 bits. I have done that with HP flat bed scaner.
don't worry about the non-certified software with MS.
