Unfortunately, there is no compatible driver for win 7. THe Mustek support center says the following:
Scanners designed to work with older versions of Windows may not function properly after upgrading your computer's operating system.
If Windows® 7 is not listed on the product driver download page for a specific product, no support is offered for Windows® 7. Newer scanner products available will have support for Windows® 7.

Hi. The fuzzy might be the glass needing cleaning (both sides) and the grainy scans could be that the scan resolution has been accidentally changed.

Hello,
You should be able to use the advanced options in the scanner software to adjust the hue or contract of your scans. Tweaking these settings will help you balance out the colors. You could also use a photo edit program to adjust these settings though I'm sure the scanner has the capability built into its software.

Scan to PDF is controlled by your software. What OS and software are you running? Under Windows, Nuance's PaperPort, http://www.nuance.com (or OmniPage which includes PaperPort) or Abby Fine Reader Express, http://www.Abby.com , both will let you scan to PDF. Open the software and set the options for scanning to PDF. Then press the scan button in the software. (Depending on the OS and Mustek driver, you may get this to work by pressing the Scan button on the scanner itself. This depends on installing a monitoring program that may be included in the drivers. This "listens" for the button press and then launches the desired software.) Other third-party software may also do this.If you are using something like Windows Fax and Scan, you'll have to do two steps. Scan and then convert the file from an image to PDF. (There are dedicated programs that convert image files to PDF or you can do this is Microsoft Office or other office suites with the appropriate add-on.) I hope this helps. Disconnect scanner from computer, uninstall the software you installed and restart the computer.
Download the latest driver software from: http://www.mustek.com/mustek/Support.php
Install the driver software but do not connect the scanner until the installation prompts you to connect it or when the installation is complete.
