Yes the Mustek A3 2400S can run on OS X 10.8. Go to http://www.mustek.com.tw/support/driver-manual-downloads.html . Check the serial number of your Mustek A3 2400S scanner. Then use the drop-down menus in the left column of the page to choose the scanner model and indicate the first three alphanumeric characters of the serial number. Then select Driver and ayour OS. The Mustek site has a driver for the D3K models that covers OS X 10.7-10.12. For the scanners with D18 serial numbers, there is a driver for OS X 10.6-10.8 and a second driver for OS X 10.8-10.11. This happened to me, and it was a mechanical issue/design flaw, not a driver issue. When you open up the scanner, you should see a black belt inside, under the glass. For me, that black belt got caught on some of the bits protruding from the green circuit board. To solve this, unplug your scanner. Get a long, very thin stick. It needs to be able to fit inside the small holes on the bottom of the scanner near the circuit board and wiggle around (I used the needle of one of those compasses used for drawing circles). Depending on where the belt is caught, you may be able to use the stick to gently pry it off of the circuit board where it's stuck. This fixed the problem for me and allowed the scanner cartridge to move freely again. Unfortunately, in my case, the belt is all bent out of shape from the scanner struggling to pull against it, so it's more prone to getting caught again. So it's a temporary fix.

I succeeded into installing and using the Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB!I downloaded the driver for Windows Vista from the Mustek website, then did the following steps:1. left mouse click on the web.exe downloaded file and choose Properties; 2. in Properties I checked "Execute this program always as Administrator" and "Execute in compatibility mode for Windows Vista";3. without any scanner connected I executed web.exe, gave the authorization even if recognized certificate;4. allowed the system to restart;5. connected the scanner;6. directly used it into any program.Please let me know if these instructions was useful!Regards and good luck.Sandro from Italy!

You should be able to import/scan to a graphic software (photoshop, fireworks), once you have the graphic/picture fully scan you can save it in any format you wish.
