Canon SD100 Powershot Can't download pics

You may have accidently removed the photo programs you were using. Check to see if the software programs are indeed still on your computer by searching by name. If it or they are there , open one of the programs before you connect the camera and it should automatically download.

If they have been removed use the disc that came with your camera to reload the software program.

Prob with black lcd display

Try shining a very bright (Preferably an ultrabright LCD) flashlight directly into the lens while the camera is on. Hold it there for a few moments. Do you see anything on the display yet?

The display is not working

See this link:

There is a problem with the CCD image sensor for the following cameras:
- Camcorders: ZR60, ZR65 MC, ZR70 MC, ZR80, ZR85, ZR90, ELURA 40 MC, ELURA 50
- Digital Cameras A60, A70, A75, A300, A310, S230, SD100, SD110, A40(*), A80(*), A85(*), A95(*), S1 IS(*), S60(*), S200(*), S330(*), S400(*), S410(*), S500(*)

Malfunction:
It has been confirmed that the connecting parts of the internal wiring of the CCD used in affected products may become disconnected, especially if the affected products are stored or used in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. If this occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD normally in Shooting Mode, which may cause a distorted image or the absence of an image. This malfunction can be confirmed on the LCD monitor screen during shooting. The same malfunction also appears on the recorded image.
Canon's Response:
Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Canon will repair, free of charge, the products listed above exhibiting the above-mentioned malfunction if Canon determines that the malfunction is caused by the CCD image sensor. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair.

Camera was dropped, lens will not retract, when on/off button is pressed the initial screen and sound appear but then the camera makes a kind of warning sound and E18 appears in the lower left hand co

Perhaps the lens got bumped (if the camera was one when it was dropped) and is out of place. Mine did the same and I sent it in (it was within warranty) and Canon fixed it.

Viewfinder Distorted

it's sounding like a bad ccd imager, could be a connection problem however. if it is the imager it will most like cost more than it's worth to get it fixed. $200 to $250 ballpark.

Black screen only on the LCD

Try clicking the Disp. button a few times until the display turns back to normal, it might work, if not it must be a more serious issue, this is the simplest solution I have. Good Luck!
