D board KP51WS520

I wouldnt pay that. There are cheaper guys out there. Did you test IC5101 on the D Board? You might just need to replace that. The 4 blinks is hinting to either no 15V's or Lack of vertical from a faulty IC510. Check your Transistor and see if it is bad. You might get lucky and save a lot of money on a repair.

kp57ws50_57_in_rear_projection_hd_228277.jpg Problem with Sony KP-57WS520 57 in. Rear ProjectionThis model is really prone to one problem in particular--screen even briefly comes up bright red, green or blue and set shuts down.15 seconds from turn on front power light should blink as set checks several things internally---if something wrong it does not let picture show.Usually after shut down or failure power light will blink a sequence of blinks but not always depending on problem.Did you see the screen at all go red, green, or blue before?the more you tell me the better I can help

TV has been working great for the past 6 years,

Hi Dave,

We have had this same problem twice now - the first time under warranty (no problem) and now currently. The 9-blink error code refers to needing to replace two diodes on the G board. Specifically, D6301 and D6116.

The warranty time, the repair guy came and resoldered the new diodes onto the G Board, reinstalled the board, and was on his way. We had no problems for the next 3 years.

THIS time I ordered the two diodes from Andrews Electronics (www.andrewselectronics.com) am removing the G board myself and taking JUST THE BOARD to a local TV repair guy. This is a LOT cheaper than calling Sears or taking the whole TV to the repair guy. Here are the links to the specific diodes:

D6301 - http://parts.andrewselectronics.com/search/electronic-parts/parts/7/6-500-567-21.aspx

D6116 - http://parts.andrewselectronics.com/search/electronic-parts/parts/7/8-719-081-97.aspx

They are a heck of a lot less expensive than other places and the customer service I received was great!

I hope this helps!!

Reset led blink 10 times

Hi,
The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.
Few examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set.
3 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set. The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the specific issue that needs to be repaired. If the power light flashes three times in sequence in a Lamp TV, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
4 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a back light or lamp power problem.
6 blinks: - This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your set.
7 blinks: - This indicates that there is a temperature problem with your set. Please check to make sure that the air vents on the sides and back of the set are not blocked or clogged and there is adequate ventilation around the television. We recommend that you check and clean the vents periodically to make sure the set receives adequate air flow. If the problem continues, the set will need to be serviced.
8 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a video-related problem with your set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

Thanks for using Fixya.

You can hear everything but

IF there is no dsiplay then its definitely due to loss of high voltage. You should start by testing the horizontal deflection circuits and the HOT(Horizontal Output Transistor), If you are skilled in working on electronics PCBs and know how to solder then let me know and I will guide you with the repair.

I have a Sony KP-57WS520

you may want to try repeatedly turning it on with the remote to call up the error buffer: DISPLAY, 5, Volume down, Power.

If you get the set on this way a box should appear with several items like "AKB" etc----they all should have a 0 to the right---any with a number like 6 etc denote an error and point to what the problem is.

It seems that your Pulse Width Modulation drive ic on power supply or high voltage section fails. This can be resolve by replacing the IC MCZ3001d that will be found on your power supply or at the high voltage section.(near Fly back transformer) If you have basics knowledge in electronics and soldering, you can easily fix it.
