SHARP T.V. not responding to remote, but remote isn't broken
Same thing happened to my Sharp 29 inch. Stopped responding to original remote the first time, but a universal worked fine. Eventually it stopped responding too all universal remotes. The remotes are good, they work with my VCR, DVD player, and Receiver. It's a nice TV, but having to get up and adjust the volume every commercial break got old a few decades ago! If anyone has any other possible solutions aside from getting the sensor replaced...would be great to hear it.

Sharp CX80H6
Hi,
This style of failure with the CX80h6 and indeed other CX80 & SX80 series SHARP 80cm sets is usually due to problems with the PIP (picture in picture) sub-board. This small board plugs vertically into the main left hand PCB (seen from rear of set) and is sealed in tin-plate for RF shielding. I've had two CX80h6 sets recently with this exact failure and both had problems with the PIP sub-board. One needed a new regular on the board while the other had a dry joint on the connector. This sub-board is not available from SHARP anymore, but in most cases the failed component is a discrete that usually can be sourced in it's own right. So this sub-board is where I think you should start your fault finding.

Morning, i seem to have
The tv have a video board problems, that the board, where it is pluging into the CRT-(tv picture tube) that the video board it is dying require trouble shoot and repair by a tv Tech. For now a temp. repair fixed solution.Tries tv turn off and on a few times, the tv video picture should return.
No video, sound is ok.
If you can take the board out of this TV, you will find many bad solder grounds. First places to look for, are the vertical IC and the horizontal transformer. Be sure to check the solder connections on the small board connected to the picture tube. Very common problem for any and all these tube type TVs. If the vertical IC has bad grounds it would be in your best interest to replace the capacitors near and next to this IC. In any case resolder any and all bad solder connections. Your picture will return in most cases. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.
