I have 6-8 inch horizontal shadow at the top of my HL-R5078W. How can I get rid of it?

A darkened band on this model is almost a certain bad optical light engine--not much else can even cause this.

Picture alinement dlp

Two thoughts for you.One is the set has to be level and supported evenly across the bottom--it will cause this kind of issue.Second is look to the DMD board/box where the wheel plugs in--some had 3 bolts to loosen and if so the box can be shifted to set the center position of the picture--not easy as up moves it down etc.Usually if replacing this wheel you will not have this issue unless that has been tampered--suspect that light engine may not be back correctly in place--check that if you did not tamper with the DMD.

Samsung TV will come on, sound comes on for a few seconds and stops. The picture changes sizes 3 times and the unit shuts off

Suspect number one is not fan, lamp or Color wheel--optical light engine with dmd is.

Screen has lots of green

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

My picture is working perfect, but no sound at

First of all, there may not be anything wrong with your TV set. May I tell you that if you have Directv or Dish Network you may have to unplug the satellite receiver for 30 seconds and plug it back up. If this does not fix the problem I would check the mute button on the remote and after that go to the menu to the sound or audio and check to see if the speakers are on or not.

I get a weak or

Was it working before? HDMI is a weak signal by nature, so longer runs may not be possible. How far are you going (how long is the cable)? Are you running this HDMI cable by many other cables or perhaps in the presence of an electrically noisy device such as an electric motor? Also, make sure if you are trying to hook up a computer or any device not usually meant for use with televisions that it is HDCP compliant. What is it you are trying to hook up? Have you tried other devices? With the same cables? You should also be sure both devices are powered down after the connection is made and then powered on first the television and then the other device. If that does not work, power both down again and power the device first and then the television. HDMI is very picky about many things. You may also have to check if your television set has a software update at the Samsung website. Another thing is that the output device may need you to change it to output to HDMI in the menu. Try hooking up another television with it and then try the other. Post back if you're still having trouble. Good luck.

I get green and white

Hello

disconnect the TV from wall socket and remain it in this condition for one minute. The switch it ON and ckeck.

Reset your Tv to its factory settings. To reset it do the following.

To return to the factory settings, select "Reset" by pressing Up/Down arrow button.

Press 'Enter' button . All previously adjusted settigs will go to its original settings

Stripes and lines on the screen you described here, can be caused due to the trouble of the DLP chip also. Try these first, and inform me the result. Check whether can you do reset the set porperly. If trouble is with DLP or its drive chip, you cannot do the work by yoursef, as it need sophisticated testing equipments, like oscilloscope, signal generator, colour scanner and more experience and knoledge about the working of DLP chip. Eventhough it ahs an area of onse square inch, it contains millions of tiny electrostaticaly controlled mirrors, and needs very caucios in handleing the device too.

Check these i mentioned above first, and inform me by Fixya.

OK.
