Colored lines and rectangles
Sounds like a problem on the digital board. try hard booting (unplug for 2 minutes) to reboot the microprocessor. if no resolution, look for a new board part # bp94-01859f if your model # ends in WX
Screen cleaning
Use any lintless cloth. Spray any clener you use on the cloth, not the screen. I often just spray a little Windex (or store equivalent) onto a terrycloth rag and use that.

Have to re-set everytime to work
Cause it's the official tv of nascar and the nfl and most other really expensive advertising. As a servicer and an owner of the same set, I first would try to vacuum out all vent holes behind set. This has caused mine to shutdown several times. I don't completely understand you about modes, but make sure all audio/video cables are connected well and hdmi cable. Also, make sure that the door switch on the lamp cover is fully engaged. They had an intermittant problem with some of them not making good contact. Go over your power strips and/or extension cables real good and hope for the best. Good luck.
Tv comes on but screen is black
You likely have a problem on your digital main pcb. This is the computer board that will process all the picture plus makes the power on noise.. if its a 5667wx then your part is

try unplugging the tv for two minutes. in rare cases this hard boot will reset and fix
Green lines on screen
That symptom is caused by a bad dmd board. This will help: make sure you use all digits of model number when you order or lookup parts. This is located on a sticker on the side of your set. Also, you can price "rebuilt" light engine or dmd assy. and check for core value of your defective one. Good luck, Russmann.
No picture, no sound on my Samsung 56" Projection TV
You probably need to replace the lamp. It's about $150, and if you buy it with the housing, it's a really easy fix, just unscrew and pull out the old one, and pop the new one in. Go here:

Samsung 56 HLR566 Vertical Green Lines
I suggest unplugging your entire system for one minute to try a reset again. Sometimes a system reset doesn't take the first time. If this does no good you probably have damage to your digital board or dmd board. I have a smaller version of the same set at home and have done samsung's warranty service for several years. They deliver a great picture but do need regular maintenance and or repairs. The upside of all this is if you have homeowners insurance it may be covered, depending on your deductable amount. However, a dmd board can cost 500.00 so you may have to go that route. Hope this helps, Russmann.
Tv will not stay on for more than about 5 seconds
It is normal for timer lite to blink when a remote command is sent. However, the problem you are having can be caused by several different things. I have had the same problem with my samsung dlp and have done the factory service for several years. First, you need to vacuum out all vent holes on the rear of the set. Then, remove the lamp cover, unscrew the screw holding the lamp in place and remove lamp. Do not touch glass. Look to see if filament is shattered. If not, firmly reinstall lamp and secure. Then reinstall lamp door making sure you engage door switch. Try set and see if this helps unless lamp was shattered. If not, replace lamp. Weather or not it is bad, you will need one sooner or later. Also, listen for a zing noise a few seconds after power is engaged. This is the color wheel which is another possible cause for this symptom. Truth is, almost any part in the set can cause this, but I gave you the most common things you can do by yourself to test this unit. Good luck, Russmann.
Speaker blown

Won't turn on
Make sure that you have the orange flat cable turned the right way when you plugged it in. I accidentally turned one the wrong way and that was the response I got. Hope this is all it was if this does not fix it I would measure the ballast and make sure the 200 or so volts is coming across.
Buzzing noise on Samsung HL-R5667W DLP
You have a noisey color wheel. It is a little tricky to replace but not too bad. Also, there are several different versions of these for different models so be sure you use complete model number from sticker on side of set. Must remove light engine and will need extra long philips screwdriver (magnetic). That is to get color wheel cover off/on. When switching ribbon cable, notice it only has contacts on one side so make sure to put new one in same way. Good luck, Russmann.
