Black and white picture on the JVC TH-505
If you hold the VFP button while a movie is on, you will get a small box on the corner that shows your color. My default color also turned black and white. I just moved over to a user1 color setting (push the right arrow on your remote), and it allows to the change the colors. You might be able to put the colors to come out through here. Hope this helps.

Hello, it,s very possible that it,s circuit protector built in to the sub (if it,s a self powered sub) gets to the point of overload and shuts off as a protection so that the speaker won,t get damaged and also so the internal amp tha,t pushing the speaker sound is also protected since theese amps all have heat buildup, their are two types of subwoofers ,They are the powered ones and the ones that are powered bt the surround amp ,The ones powered by the stereo surround amp/tuner tend to throw out less power to the sub and the ones that have internal power are mostly higher powered , Another thing you might want to check is your polarity to the speakers and also the omage , Most home theater system speakers are 8 ohm,s but their are speakers and amps that can be changed to 6 ohm,s ..so you might want to check the speaker rating also . Well hopefully you can use theese different methods to at least troubleshoot and discount the thing,s that are not the issues , Good luck and hope theese sugestions might help you , Sincerely Glenn
JVC TH-M505 No Sound
It is possible that a fuse has blown in the sub-woofer box. This unit has the entire amplifier built right into the sub-woofer. It also has a number of fuses in it. I have found that over the years fixing these units that if a fuse is blown you will also have more serious problems in the amp circuit. That is usually why the fuse will blow. They sometimes even have a problem in the main head unit with a digital transistor that is a surface mounted transistor that will cause this problem also. This transistor is part of the turn on circuit that signals the sub-woofer to turn on when the head unit is turned on. None of these problems are an easy fix I am sorry to say.
If you have at least a little experience with electronics and the right tools, like a multimeter and soldering equipment, I may be able to help you figure out the problem. But be aware that these are not easy to fix, and you may spend lots of time trying to figure it out just to find out that you will still need to take it in to a service center and in many cases when somebody tries to fix these type of units and have no experience with them they often cause more problems than they have started with.
For starters you can at least check the fuses, but please be sure to unplug the entire unit from the wall outlet before doing anything, there is a big risk of electrical shock.
The bottom of the sub-woofer has 6 screws in it (If I remember right) and those 6 screws must come out, they are rather big and you must use a number 2 phillips head screwdriver. Then after that you must take out all the screws from around the edges of the black metal panel where the speakers plug in to. When those are all out you can pull the amplifier unit right out of the sub-woofer box. Be careful when you pull it out, you will need to unplug a set of wires to get it all the way out, maybe two sets of wires, I am going off of just my memory right now, but if you need more help I will look up the service manual to help you more.
You will find at least one fuse right near the board where the A/C plug goes to and then you will find a few more fuses on the board that is on the right side while looking at the amp block from the same position you pull it out from and this board is plugged into the bottom board and is vertical but the short side is up and down, the long side is going towards the back of the amp and it is running along the metal chassis on that right side.
I hope this helps you, if you need more help just post your questions here.

Great sound, no voices
Mine was the center speaker wire was not properly seating in the speaker. This is where all the sound for the voices come out. I thought it was something major. try checking them again if you haven't already.

I cannot unlock my JVC DVD player the work lock appears in the window
I need a system cord,
Go to the manufacturer website for your speakers and you should be able to find what you're looking for there. If not, leave a comment with the manufacturer and model number and I'll see if I can find it for you. You can also check your user manual for connection types and it should show you what you need to get.
Cable lost
A subwoofer cable is simply a single cable with an RCA jack on each end, there is nothing special about it despite what Monster and other manufacturers would like you to believe. You can buy one the length you need or make your own.
JVC TH-M505
There are very few uses for the subwoofer. Try it on FM if you get audio the woofer is working.
System cord [supplied]
Yes partsmaster do have the cable but not sure of the length. Still waiting to find out but the did text to say they have the part. Hope this helps.
Humming
Maybe one of the audio leads does not have a complete earth shield and until the second lead is connected, the lack of a suitable earth shield produces the 50Hz 'hum'.
If you should connect either of the two the centre conductors to your body, YOU will introduce a similar hum due to your body acting as an 'earth' to that signal carrier.
These are frequently common effects and it may be a good idea to turn the volume level down on the amplifier or even turn it and the VCR OFF whilst you make or break these connections.
Good Luck!
JVC TH-M505 changer displays NO DISC
There are two rails in the dvd player. I have found that cleaning the rails & applying new grease to them usually solves the problem. a spray with silcone will do. do not get any on the laser. best done by a pro & not many know of this little trick.

Leads
Most of all electronics accessory or parts you can buy it in electronics shop. The leads you said is the RCA cord, input in dvd player output to home theater subwoofer.Tell the shop that you need RCA cord from dvd player to home theater sub woofer.Or you can order it in the site just type googles and search for electronics accessories. That's all jon-jon txt me what the result.
Speakers
befor go deeper check your cable first -take the cable from the good one and test the three bad speakers with it-if no good result the problem is in the speaker itself or in the system-test bad speaker with good cable in the place of good speaker if it is working the problem in your system output itself not the speaker.do this for the other two speakers
