JVC TH-M505 System - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Well i had exactly the same problem, my sub turned off right away when i turned the whole thing on. Well i opened the subwoofer and was trying to find out something unusual, i took out, i believe, internal amp, well, whatever that thing is, under the lid. Which one is screwed with 6 copper screws, so you unscrew those screws, lift that lid and that whole board comes out. On that board i find something like burn around one of the parts.

you can see it in the pick, the part q2902, then i contacted JVC. At the beginning they said i need to take the whole thing to service center and so on. But later i made them to tell me what kind of part that is, so here :http://www.jvcservice.com/store/ProductDetail.asp?Part=KTC3199/GL/-T
bought soldering gun in home depot for $15, returned after i was done. And that is it, just have to replace it, but total cost only $12 ($5 part +$7 shipping)

It may be wired wrong ..polarity.

TH-M505 can display in black in white if connected iimproperly using COMPONENT connections or if cables have gone bad. Try replacing component or changing connection to COMPOSITE. Does it play in black in white using COMPOSITE?

You need to check the options are the manual book on it..

BUT, I imagine that din cable is standard and would be available cheaper at an electrical or PC supply store.

There are 4 possible items that could be at fault.

LV41431-002A LOADING BELT VKS5557-001 LOADING GEAR LV21406-003A LOADING RACK

or it could be the main drive motor which I'm unsure of the Part No. for.

If you take the cover off and check that the motor is rotating and follow the belt, gear and rack from their to see which is slipping or not moving

Sound like the tray drive belt has stretched.

You need to remove the case and then remove the cover from the DVD.

Towards the front you'll see a motor with a belt to a larger wheel.

Remove the belt, measure it and get one a couple of mm smaller.

You need to change the surround sound settings. This is on page 29-30 in the instruction manual that comes with the sysyem. You can download a copy in pdf format here: http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/00/95/LVT1147-001C.pdf

Basically do this:

1. Play the dvd.
2. Select Audio mode on the remote control
3. Hit the "Surround" button repeatedly until you hear all the sounds you expect to hear.
Go slow inbetween hitting the button to make sure the sound is playing.

That cable not only carries audio but it also powers the sub and other channel amplifers. Even if we could supply the pin-outs for the channels I'm not sure what we could do to provide subwoofer power. We're talking about a major rework.

This is a highly proprietary design, meaning it's really not very adaptable to normal spec audio equipment.

It must be refffered to a service tech and not messed up as it should be seen how this was removed.So dont take chances to tamper.

I have the same system, but my subwoofer/amplifier is messed up. If you wanted to buy just the dvd player I'd sell you mine.
