VCR Lock activated-Can I turn it off?

Turn the VCR on and remove any tape. Press the record button and the VHS/TV button simultaneously. You should see a message saying the VCR is unlocked. It worked for me.

VCR DOES NOT WORK WITH NEW CABLE BOX

If you can get some of the stations without the box (often the case for those who subscribe to digital cable or movie channels), then one setup is to split the raw cable and feed the box and the TV, then have the box feed the VCR and hook up the VCR composite video and line level audio outputs to the TV. The VCR tuner would always be set to the VHF frequency your cable box RF output is on, usually ch. 2, 3 or 4. This setup allows PIP to work, with the TV tuner limited to unscrambled analog stations, and it also allows you to tape anything coming through the box, while watching unscrambled analog stations on the TV. However, it requires the VCR to be on and the TV set to the external video input to simply watch what is coming through the cable box. There are other ways to set this up with more flexibility using splitters and A/B switches, or you can look for a special switch box that handles the job. The above assumes your TV has composite video and line level audio inputs. The only way to have full flexibility to watch any scrambled or unscrambled station at the same time as taping a scrambled station is to have 2 cable boxes. The only way to have your VCR control the cable box and record different programs by switching the box by itself is to have a VCR with a cable box controller, also known as a cable "mouse". Hope this helps

1977 CRT TV wont turn on

Not sure why anyone would want to repair a non hd TV as the picture quality isn't usable with modern content but if you're doing it because you like restoring something vintage here are some ideas. Some CRT sets use a pulse from the back side of the flyback transformer as a starter voltage supply, it needs this short pulse to start the power supply, it's kind of like starting a gas motor, the starter only runs for a short time then the gas motor takes over, this signal needs to be measured with a scope or a high end meter, this was a common issue with a lot of older CRT sets that use this type of power supply. I'd look at the start up supply as without that the regular supply isn't operatable.

no model TV told at all.nor year made. 1967 to 2004?????? not sure what you are attempting at all first off there are no more VHF/UHF wide band TV now. its all gone. bye bye. HDTV yes , old analog is gone. buried. this TV is NOT CABLE ready, back in 1967 era,no such thing. make relic TV work needs a video to vhf channel 3/4 converter like old Pong or ATARI games had. yes there are converters. to do video to modulated channel 3/4 but not told at all what is your video choices,?sources. DVD RCA video jacks. cable modems do not have those. I bet you have cable modem or a SAT modem and converting HDTV to analog is wow hard. if not impossible one can record a video sources and convert it using PONG adapter. to old CRT motorola quasar. quasar Company ceased to exist in 2004. ! Beside Uwave ovens. and Motorola 1974 sold its television business to Matsushita Electric, now Panasonic https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=+RF+Modulator+RCA+Input+Channel+3+4+Adapter+Output+&_sacat=0 the above will work ch.3/4 VHF with video sources.

I have a Quasar 50in model number sq5000

Your EEPROM is bad, if you can find one and have soldering skills and the equipment to remove and replace SMD devices that's the cheap way to fix( $15) if not replace the main board, in your case with the sound issue it may make more sense to replace the main as that should correct that isue as well

I want to get an antenna for my Quasar VV-2000. What is best for this model and will I need a converter box?

you will need both a digital antenna and a converter box. if you can put the antenna on the roof or on a tower. if you had a newer tv all you would have to get is just the antenna

Quasar television radio combo. ANY way to get channels without a buying a converter. It has screw connections that looks like you are to use some type of uhf transformer type thing. I do not have any of those. I have a vcr and some wire. ANY help???

I haven't heard of a radio/tv combo since the demise of vhf tv. A reasonable radio reception could be derived from the vhf tv signal making a usable unit without the bother of an additional aerial. For use with uhf tv the radio would probably need an additional aerial for decent fm radio reception - unless the radio is am only... You don't say how old your combo is or give any details. I think the screw terminals could be intended to be connected to a 300 ohm balanced dipole aerial for radio reception only or to mount a loop aerial for indoor tv reception only, if the tv is intended for uhf analogue reception. If the tv isn't equipped with a standard socket for the usual 75 ohm coaxial type aerial lead it is possible the set manufacturer originally supplied an adaptor to fit to those two screws in order to provide a regular aerial socket. Without a much more detailed description, these are the only comments I am able to make.

My quasar tv keeps blacking out and I can't get back on it

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.
