This is the best solution for your problem as a 40 year experience with wires etc. Go to the source of your cable signal connector . Open it and clean the terminals with emery paper , sand the end of the cable shiny clean from corrosion , get a new barrel connectors with gold terminals if possible lengthen the ends of the cable , insert and tighten good, use thick rg-16 or rg 40 cable with good insulation ends crimped professionally with a crimpier or buy ready made , not from dollar store. Get a gold plated professional splitter if you need one or two , it will cost about 15 or more each . Make the cable runs as short as possible, using the thick good cables. If needed get a signal magnifier. From radio shack or the source etc. Connect them good and tight . Ground the splitters . Problem solved , you will get crystal clear channel 2 to 7 including 3 and 4 . Isolate the TV cable from other cables and power wires. Vitally

You'll need a digital cable box for that, I'm afraid. The analog tuner in the set isn't compatible with the digital cable signal. The cable company in my city just dropped their analog service. Now you either need a digital converter box, or a "cable box lite" called a digital transport adapter. it could be either the coils on the yoke of the tube or the flyback. flyback would need to be replaced it that is the problem

Thank you for your quick response. The problem was that the ant selection switch was not set correctly. One of the grandkids must have bumped it. So I was using for the moment a VCR tuner for my TV tuner. The set is 25 yrs old and still is wonderful. I know I can add channels to the set, but I have forgotten how. The manual is long gone. Not a big deal I have 65 channels, that is plenty.

Does your sound go thru the tv or a sound system ??? when ya turn tv off then on does it show anything like its coming on ??

as you say that sound is not ok other thing is normal please check the following 1 speaker and its wire for loose 2 supply to sound section and loose print 3 parts in audio out put section kids can not create any problem from outside. regards

most TV will allow manual entering of numbers on the remote.

if you have the remote try typing "03" thats Zero Three on the remote.

you might have it in video mode like vidoe one or s-video there different mode for a tv. check on the remote for source or TV/VIDEO button, to make sure the TV is in TV mode.

also on the TV itself there should be a menu button some TV have RESET option. look for that

or just goto the WEBSITE of the manufacture of the TV set im sure they have ONLINE manuals too.
