Gateway NV5468u Notebook Questions & Answers
I have the replacement keyboard for the gateway
All them are pretty basically the same. Pull out power cord and battery... Remove the bezel piece top of the keyboard "the thing the power button sits in". When you remove it there should be 2 screws very tiny holding the keyboard down remove them. Under the keyboard there will be the power ribbon DO NOT JUST PULL IT OUT!! There will be like a brown/white clip that locks the ribbon to the board. The brown may be black or even blue that is the locking piece. Carefully lift the clip up and gently pull the ribbon out. If its stuck you have not unlocked it. Pull the old keyboard out and repeat the steps backwards.

Hi there. Your problem seems to be the battery. Usually when the battery is at the end of its life the indicator stays at 0%. If you are still unsure you can go to download.com and get free battery testing software. Good luck...
Gateway nothing displayson the screan thescreen
HI,
Regarding this issue with the computer not booting to Windows, please press the F8 as soon as you reboot the computer you would get a black screen that says "ADVANCED BOOT OPTIONS" from here you would find an option that says "SAFE MODE" please use the up and down arrow keys and highlight this option and see if you are able to get into Windows in the safe mode.If you are able to boot into safe mode then we can restore the settings of the computer to an earlier date for which please click on Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore. You would get the System restore window from where you need to select an earlier date wherein the computer was working fine and then the computer would reboot and you should be able to get the computer to work.

what are you trying to do? if your trying to recover from the partition and it is not allowing you to do so, you may have corrupted the restore partition. or you let the 30 days expire and you have no choice but to reinstall or purchase a legal license. Either way, it may be best to contact gateway for original disks (usually a minimal fee) and once your back up and running, make sure you make a set of recovery disks before you do anything else.
Why replacement harddrive wont install operating software
If it is a new hard drive it could need formatting or if it already has software loaded it could need the drive formatting on a different machine.
I have noticed something strange, probably in the bios settings of one computer I had contact with recently. It resisted all attempts to load an operating system on an empty drive but loading an operating system with a different machine and then reinstalling the drive in the original it accepted the new operating system without any further hitches.
Another thing to think about was the time we tried to take a look at a hard drive and all my friend's machines refused to read it.
It turned out his machines had 32 bit operating systems and the fresh hard drive was on 64 bit.
