Cursor not working
Can you pls elaborate a bit. What machine, what platform, what application, etc etc.
Spilled coffee on my gateway NV7802u notebook and
Regret to tell you that this may be due to multiple circuit damages as the motherboard is located rite underneath the keyboard. I suggest you not to try starting-up the laptop as this may cause further damage. Take it to a hardware shop and they would be able to diagnose the problem precisely.
Keyboard seems to stick
Find a tear down guide for your laptop. You'll want to get to the connection beneath the keyboard and see if the connection can be reseated. This will probably fix the problem. It could also be damaged, in which case you'll need a replacement.
I upgrade RAM on laptop, now runs slower. Running 64-bit WIN 7 OS,
Check BIOS if all RAM is being picked and or set to max on RAM settings.Upgrading BIOS! If it isn't broken don't fix it. Upgrading is a scapegoat fix, and many manufactures have a disclaimer. Turning off
Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust. Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.
Computer screen flashes black and locks up or reboots.
You need to find out why your laptop is overheating, usual suspect is dust, make sure that your heatsink ribs and the fan are clear from dust, could also be worth putting new heatsink paste on the processor and graphics chip
Power light go's on and off
Remove main battery and try again, next! sub out one ram stick at a time testing as you go, if still no result! check power adapter for correct voltage, if okay! the motherboard needs to be assessed.

I own a Gateway nv7802u
Check and see if the hard drive came loose check the bios to see if it is recognized..It is saying there is nothing with an O/S on it and when you put the disk in it does not register a hard drive to restore..Check the hard drive and start the computer up and see if you can cancel the restore and start the laptop up regular..
My computer was dropped and broke the power button

I recommend contacting your computer manufacturer and ask assistance with their technical support. Ask if they could repair the system even you accidentally dropped the computer. Most of physical damage voids out the warranty so you need to contact them to check if your system is still in warranty and can cover induced damage.

My nv7802 overheats and shuts off,fan is running
The fan may be running too slow (faulty bearing) or the fan and heat sink assembly may be clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spinsfreely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.
