To unlock the OSD (onscreen display control), turn off the monitor and then press and hold the Menu button on the monitor. Then press the power button to turn the monitor back on. Do not release the Menu button before pressing the power button. This same step (holding the Menu button and then pressing the power button) enables the OSD lock. The menu button is the top button on the right side of the monitor (on the bezel). The power button is the bottom button of the group. Use amplified speakers

If You really can't read anything on the screen this wont help. If you can make out a bit, then right click on a vacant area of your screen, then select "properties". On the Display Properties Menu, select "Settings", then select "Advanced". This will bring up a menu that shows your Monitor and Display Driver info. Select "Display", then select "Properties", then select "Driver", then select "Roll Back Driver". This will restore the old driver for the Display. If this doesn't help, go through the same menus again, and on the "Monitor and Display" menu select "Adapter" instead of "Monitor", and roll back that driver.

All the pins on the video cable are OK on both ends and they are on tight? Try it with another PC to make sure it is not video card problem also.

My monitor comes on just a second to desktop and then goes blank

how is it connected to pc? vga, hdmi?

Hello,If your monitor is the AOC 2036sa then it does have built in speakers. It should have had a cable in the box that would go from the PC to the monitor. Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions

even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause this problem or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free

restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

my audio output device isn't working

it is not in your task to repair this one. in real one of the IC controlling touchpad have problem. so take it to service center or any technician.

This monitor includes very low-volume speakers (2x1W), so you might need to connect external speakers if you require higher volume.

LCD speakers are really not that good, specially for smaller than 42". but it should not be that faint if your hardly hearing a sound, try to get a replacement unit.
