I just switched my monitor to another computer and

the second pc probably has different settings on video card. go to display in control panel to adjust resolution and/or colors. remember all video cards are not the same. some have more memory and capabilities than others. some are just made better and age holds a factor.

Image on the screen flickers from no image (black)

First, try it on another PC, if it still does the same then you will need to open it up and look inside.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Need to buy a power cord to replace the original.

Modern monitors and desktop computer use universal power cables, so you should be able to go to an office supply store like Staples or Office Depot or an electronics store like Best Buy and ask them for a monitor power cable. It will have a three-prong end to plug into the wall and a six-sided end with three recessed slots to plug into the monitor.

If you want to buy online, monoprice.com has grest prices on cables.

Good luck.

What is the other input

The traditional (blue) connection is VGA and the other connection (which is white) is a DVI connection. It stands for Digital Video Interface. If you have an HD monitor and you are just using the (blue) VGA connection on the monitor and on the video card, you are not actually viewing in HD. On the other hand if you use the DVI connection with a DVI cable you will be viewing in HD and should notice the difference in the quality of your picture

When turned on, it immediately turns off after about 5 secs

Sounds like it could be that the lcd is going bad in your monitor. Try hooking up a known working monitor to your computer and if you get the video to stay on then you know the original monitor is bad. If you cant' get the video to stay on even with the known working monitor then you know that the video card inside of the computer is bad.

It turns on only for 1 second then shuts off.

Open up and look for bad caps with bulging tops, check to see if you also have 12vdc feeding the backlights inverter circuits. See some examples of failed monitors here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

The inverter will turn off after 2 minutes of power on.

Check to see if you do have 12v all the time, also check for bad caps in 12v supply and at the inverter section, see example of failed monitors because of bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Try it on another PC first, if it still does not work, then check the DC filter caps in the power supply section first for leaking/bulging tops.

Screen will not stay on

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
