Is your dryer plugged directly to a power source or are you using a surge protector?

How do I open the drum area of Kenmore model #66712694 dryer to clean it?

First you need to determine if your dryers blower housing and other components are located in the rear of the dryer or underneath the dryer. The quickest and most simple way to do this is to look at the front of the dryer and see if it is one complete front or two pieces. There will be a small gap completly across the front about a quarter way up if its two. If its two pieces then your work is going to be up front. You remove the lower kickplate with a flat screw driver and pressing the clips, one on each side in the groove. If its a solid front then you'll need a 1/4 " driver or drill with 1/4" socket, adapter, etc. From the rear of the dryer, there are about nine 1/4 inch screws you take off to access the area your looking for. Hope this helps, good luck. Now to look around the drum area, it also depends on if its one or two pieces. If one, remove the lint trap and take the two phillips head screws then take a flat head and pop the top up. Then inside, top front left and right sides there are two screws, either 5/16" or 1/4" screws you need to remove to pull the front off. If two pieces you'll have to pop the top as earlier, but you'll have to remove the kickplate, then two additional screws at the lower portion of the top piece as well as the top. You broke the belt. To replace it, pop the top ... use a screw driver. Remove the screws at the top of the front, remove the front, the drum will fall free. Take Pictures.

My kenmore dryer 80series mdl

Hi

When dryer won't heat or won't turn on or will behave as its behaving with you it means that the Thermal fuse which is located inside duct on the back has gone bad and should be replaced as it cannot be reset. If their is continuity when you check the fuse then it means that the control board is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Kenmore 66512690 problem

Hi,
Appliances which use heating elements almost always have an internal overload protection switch. This overload usually looks like a small diode or resistor somewhere on your incomming power inside the machine. Try to find this overload and bridge it out and try the machine again. These overloads usually have a rather limited life span and are most often the cause of a "dead" machine.
Best wishes,

Laundry room flooded

could be as simple as a blown thermal fuse.  most places will allow credit for a service call toward purchase of a new machine if repairs are too costly
