welcome frency>?! welcome to Yank land. (or tommies)
6530b, I own many 8540w) so like them.
my guess this pC has the built in web cam like mine,
top center of screen bezel.
that needs the HP driver to work in all case.s
w7 , great, you old the PC name and the windows name in 1 post
99% of post here lack any useful inputs, way to go !
so now is point to the driver from HP real to you.
be advised, that the USB ports must work or the cam driver will be dead, so we test the USB2 ports first,
I am clicking now for you at HP.com real.
i pick windows 32bit (not 64, if 64 you go back and pick 64)
I land here
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-compaq-6530b-notebook-pc/3687446
this is your support page just for software.
the real deal not fake, not spam , not malware of ANY KIND.
the real official source of all HP software for consumers.
only HP drivers work right, (there are exceptions i dont need to say now)
first click mouse driver (input devices)
the click Chicony Camera Driver
and run the EXE file, this loads the driver. for you.
if the camera still fails.
make sure the USB chips in device manager (and cam)
are ok, if not the camera will NOT WORK
so what then, (Seems some one erased you HP HDD using Microsoft disks not HPs)
does your internet connections work
if that is true and say one USB port is dead.
in device manager right click it and update that driver
and bingo , camera works.
see software multimedia on link above.
run the HP HP Webcam driver next. ( i think this is APPS prog)
there is also a short cut to all this and is called HP softpaq
this updates all drivers in one JOB.
HP softpaq direct link is here,
sp49417.exerun this program, and it gets all your drivers ,using just one engine
this is a powerful tool here, it can be magic like
the trouble with PC are the many options when new.
and matching driver to options is not easy
or doing so on missing options, the driver engine shows, errors when installed, attempted.
if you are connected to the internet
the W7 microsoft PnP engine runs and finds about 1/2 those HP drivers, MS does not support the whole PC ever.!! (this era)
MS only gets basics working, here. (chip drivers)
not the cam ! as you learned.
not the usb 3. chips in my case.but does USB 2 ok.
not the hot key board on the top row of my elitebook , MS does not support his, feature.
the Video screen driver at HP will at least work.
it may get sound working
but HP designed and built you PC not MS.
so run only HP drivers, and win.
the question is why?
well was your HDD drive replaced.
or did someone upgrade xp/vista to w7 and do that all wrong?
seems so to me.
good luck to you . !
