Hi, Joanne I would really love to help you with your motorcycle question but due to the magnitude of yesterday's solar flare the batteries in my crystal ball are dead and my mental telepathy headset circuitry was melted. I need the year, make, and model of your motorcycle please click on " Ask For More Information" directly below and provide this information in the box that will open and then click on the green "SEND" box in the bottom right-hand corner. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

I've only worked on older carburator but once you have taken carb apart you will probably see a brass jet (or more than one) that has a slot in the top which will accept a flat head screw driver. Unscrew with care, anticlockwise. Otherwise take carb to mechanic and he will show you how. Good luck.

How to clean the honda tmx 155 carburator

The main issue is usually the jets get clogged due to gas sitting in the bowl for extended periods. the simplest solution is the remove the carb and remove the bowl and needle and float. Then, if possible, remove the main jet and air tube and also the idle jet (the smaller one ) (remove the jet from the bottom and gently push the air tube out from inside the carb body). Then clean the jets in carburetter cleaner in a glass jar.over night.
Take a piece of electric "zip" chord and strip back the insulation to expose the wiring which is very fine copper . use one of those strands to clean the jet until you can see through it and see no deposits or roughness. do the same for the idle jet. reassemble take care on the air tube because it is likely "keyed" in to a certain alignment.

Why does 2002 honda xr50 run better with choke at half way instead of off

The jets are a little clogged or gummed up. Clean the carburetor jets and it will run better with the choke off. What happens is with the choke off, there is too much air and not enough fuel in the air fuel mixture because not enough fuel is passing through the jets but the same amount of air is always allowed. With the choke on, you are restricting the amount of air flow which helps to correct the fuel/air mixture into the engine. To clean the jets, you will remove the float bowl from the bottom of the carburetor, there will be at least two jets (sometimes up to four) in the bottom of the carb, remove both jets and use carb cleaner and compressed air to clean them. DO NOT USE any type of tool because it can scar the jet passage and change the fuel flow as well. Also be sure to use the proper screw driver to remove the jets since if you damage them it can also change the fuel flow. Also, when removing the jets, be aware of any washers or spacers that may be in place when removing. Good luck

Hi, I have a 2004 883 Sportster converted to a 1200. It has the Screamin Eagle carb kit, Screamin Eagle II slip on mufflers & a Sceamin Eagle air filter backing plate with K & N filter. I want to...

The service manual says to "remove the carb" for this job. But yes you can remove the main jet out without removing the carb out. You can rotate the carb and slide it off the intake, but watch how much slack you have in the cables, remove the bottom plug that adjusts the fuel mixture.Take the seat/tank off and loosen both the 3mm bolt and philips mounting screw so you could turn the carb to were you could remove the big bottom 17mm bolt . When you look up into the bolt hole with a light you can see two access holes for both the main and the pilot jets.the pilot can be changed by tilting the carb bottom to the left and removing the big bolt on the bottom. It's accessible without removing the float bowl. To get the needle out, you need to pull the seat and tank, remove the carb top cover (3mm allen bolts), remove the 4mm allen bolt on top of the slide, being careful not to lose the spring and other parts (3 pieces total). Pull the needle out with a needle nose and you're set. The main jet is replacable from the 17mm cap on the bottom. Your needle tube/jet may come out with the main jet but is no biggy. You can drain the float bowl before doing it if you loosen the little 3mm bolt on the bottom of the bowl. Just be sure to readjust the throttle cables after you move the carb back. Tilting the carb pulls all the slack out of the cables and the bind a bit if you dont pull them back. You can remove the main jet with a main jet tool or a 1/4 inch socket. If the needle tube jet (long skinny tube that the main jet threads into) comes out with the main jet, simply unscrew it from the main jet with an 8mm wrench and the tool you used to take out the main jet.You can put the new main jet back in the tube first and then replace the tube back into the carb. The needle will be hanging out of the bottom of the carb where the tube goes. Because you have the carb at an angle the needle will be hanging at an angle, so you need to "thread" the needle into the tube to get it to go back in.Be sure not to over tighten the main jet because you can break it off. Also when you turn the carb, the front boot can turn if it is not tight (this is common on this bike). Be sure to line up the notch on the bottom front intake boot and tighten the front clamp. It is hidden under the crankcase vent hose that runs over the top of the boot. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Engine will not run at steady speed, govenor continually fluctuates , This engine is a Kawasaki FC420V-ES10 on a John Deere Riding Tractor Model LX176. I tried the mixture adjustment needle valve no help.

On top of carb you will see a jet that is slotted, remove with screw driver and use a very thin wire to clean out hole in jet. Some had a black metal clamp holding it in place, remove that one by removing phillips screw, black clamp then use small pliers to pull jet out of top side of carb.If this does not work remove carb bowl and jetting in bottom-center of carb and clean jetting holes with a small copper wire. The mixture screw is for low speed air/fuel mix, this engine does not have a high speed fuel screw.Fixed jet.

Need to replace our jet but seems to be glued

Jet tools only remove the wall fittings from the jet body. Most bathtub jets are removed by turning them counter clockwise.

How do I remove jets to clean them? I have a

Some jets are removable for cleaning and some are not. Consult Kohler about the jet removal. Normally if a jet is removable it will turn to the left (looking at the jet straight on) and then will pop with a little more force. I suggest contacting Kohler before attempting to remove the jets.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE, CLEAN AND REPLACE JETS ON A tzr 50. Is there any information/ diagrams available to view?

Just remove the carb, turn upside down, undo the 4 screws holding the float bowl on,and the jet on the top is your main jet and can be removed /replaced using a 6mm spanner. The pilot jet is lower down ,closer to the front of the carb and can be removed with a screwdriver.

There is also the needle jet which is held in by the main jet and can be removed by simply tapping it down once you have removed the main jet.
But for basic tuning you need only change one jet(main jet).

Please leave positive feedback if this has helped you

thankyou

Carby

Remove carb. Remove fuel bowl to access jets. Low speed jet is separate off to one side. Main jet is in center and threads into emulsion tube which has metering needle down its center. Unscrew main jet from emulsion tube and replace with bigger or smaller (depending on your desires).
