Have you checked the fuel injector? if enough fuel is not getting through when accelerating it could "choke" causing the hesitation

I have a 98 jeep cherokee that is hesitating when taking off, after it heats up it is worse, it will misfire, hesitate and jerk when accelerating. The fuel pump, crank sensor, the plugs, wires, distributer...

Check the fuel pressure. If you have 30K miles on your jeep and the spark plugs in this motor need to be replaced. Jeep Grand Cherokees are notorious for not doing well with fuel with lower octane. Fill your Jeep with at least medium grade gasoline, especially if it has been shuddering or hesitating while you're attempting to accelerate.

ENGINE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATION

LOSS OF ACCELERATION

It can be fuel pressure issue or it's the problem with accelerator pedal or its clogged filters causing there.

There are many other possibilities. I suggest you to go through the list of help links mentioned below, these will help you to confirm where the actual fault lies: -------

My 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is starting to have a ''slight'' hesitation after I shut it off and re-start it again. WHen I accelerate at first it hesitates a bit. I let off the gas for a few seconds...

A slight hesitation after engine shut off due to engine running rich meaning not meeting golden air:gas ratio of 14.6:1 so fuel residue in chamber continue to burn for the last moment. The same rich fuel problem that was why you had to let gas off during acceleration. Need to Check out the O2 sensor Check out MAP sensor Good luck

Hesitation when accelerating, mostly between 20-30mph,

the funny thing is , we have had this problem also , the check engine lite came on , said downstream 02 sensor bad. replaced it. still had hesitation. change plugs and wires. still had hesitation, replaced fuel pump/fuel filter/fuel screen assembly, and the S.O.B. still has this problem. im running out of ideas except that i have run into other posts that say the crank position sensor , or the computer itself could be the culprit... all my switches and and other components seem to be working fine, though it makes me wonder also if tha cam sensor could also be going bad....

Hesitation at 40mph and 50 mph.

A pop and hesitation is likely a backfire. The hesitation around 40 and 50 would be in keeping with that theory. There are several reasons you might be getting backfires and hesitation. If your ECM is adjusting the engine to run too rich this could happen. Misfiring might be occuring. Timing could be out. But one of the most likely is a restricted exhaust, likely due to a plugged, damaged or worn out catalytic converter. In some cases the converter may be bad enough to be giving you some performance problems, but not yet quite bad enough to signal an error. A vacuum test can help confirm whether this is exhaust related.

2004 dodge caravan 2.4 Hesitates during Acceleration and at idele

You should definitely replace the fuel filter though this probably won't fix your hesitation. It wouldn't hurt to replace the spark plugs this is usually the culprit on these engine. I have the same engine in a '99 caravan and found the for some reason the spark plugs on cylinder 3 and 4 loosen up after one year and cause a misfire between 45 and 50 mph under load (when mildly accelerating).

Hesitation on Acceleration or Uphill.

The knock is caused by either timing issue or a lean cylinder condition, have you checked the fuel pressure?? has the fuel filter been changed?? A bad knock sensor will not set a light unless it is open or disconnected.
