Are you sure you have replaced correct size (amps) of battery and alternator ? Looks like there is a mismatch.

Remove battery clamp and using a sandpaper, clean the battery terminals and clamp. Put them back and tighten the clamp properly, apply petroleum jelly on both terminals.

If still there is problem, do this:

Take out the battery and charge it outside using battery charger and check if its holding charge, if not then battery is faulty. Also using a multimeter check the voltage output of alternator.

Go to the battery positive terminal is ther a 30 or 40 amp fuse you ll have to visually inspect to see if its open, you also need to look in power junction box and look at the big green fuses some orange and some red the big ones not the small one, check to see if any are open more than likely the fuse are open

Recently replaced alternator and throttle body on 08 dodge caliber and car won't stay running or hold battery charge for too long

NO ENGINE TOLD
THE BATTER ICON NOT GLOWING IN THE CLUSTER TELLS YOU ALTERNATOR IS OK
if at idle normal the battery reads 13v to 15vdc the alternator is AOK..<< a voltmeter test easy as pie.
THE { BOLT } ICON IS THE ERROR MEANS TBW errors, Throttle by wire
due to skipping last step here.

Replaced alternator but battery light stays on the dash

This light on dash is telling you, alternator is not charging or current is not reaching battery. With a voltmeter check your alternator output at battery. It should be at least 13.5 volts. If less than that check output at back of alternator, big red wire bolted to alternator. If voltage is within specs. then you may either have a blown fuse, open(broken) big red wire from alternator to baterry. Check big red wire circuit integrity by proving back of alternator where wire bolts to alternator. With the engine not running, there should be battery voltage at that bolt/wire. If no voltage repair open in circuit, either a fuse or broken wire( usually). If still no output(13.5 volts) or more, check power ground to alternator plug. If these power ground check out ok, then you more than likely have a defective alternator.

Hooked up my new battery backwards, blew the main fuse. It has been replaced and now the meter fuse in the inside fuse box blows within seconds and gage cluster and alternator not working

Could have damaged regulator. When the car is running have you checked the voltage at battery terminals. If battery is charging it should be around 14 volts. If around 12 your charging system is fubar.

Meanwhile if you have to charge the car every day then something in the car is draining the battery, Using an ammeter you need to track it down, Hook it up to battery and pull fuse out one at a time till the drain goes down. That isolates the circuit with the problem.

Alternator wiring problem

check alternator main fuse is ok and check battery terminals clean and secured properly ,earth cable from battery to body and body to engine clean on contacts and secure ,if it still does not charge you can run a wire insulated from main connector on alternator straight to the positive of battery to rule out a break in power feed wire from alternator to the battery , is the alternator/baterry light staying on?

We replaced the alternator and the battery and the belt tensioner but charging system light still stays on

There are two things that generally cause a battery warning after an alternator replacement. The most common is a loose connection either with the control plug (aka “relay” plug-in), charging line connection, or the ground. The other is a blown fuse or defective connector or relay, which could have been broken or shorted when the alternator was installed or on the first start-up after its installation.
You can check that the alternator is supplying enough power by starting the car and disconnecting the battery. If the car dies, the alternator isn't working properly (or a wiring/relay/fuse issue).

What does the check battery charging system light mean you have just changed the alternator, starter and had the battery checked. The car will stay on battery and the alternator will not pick up the t

The warning light means the alternator is not charging the battery.
Since you have replaced the alternator it could be defective or the problem could be in the wiring harness. There is a fuse or a fuse wire between the alternator and battery which could have blown.
You may need a shop manual to have the test procedures and wiring diagrams.

My 2006 pt cruiser battery light is coming on. What does this mean?

There is a problem in the charging system. Either your battery is not holding a charge anymore, or your alternator is dead. The first thing to do is check the alternator. turn on the car and then remove the negative battery terminal. If the car shuts off immediately after disconnecting the battery then your alternator is bad and needs to be replaced. If it stays on, then your alternator is OK, you then need to remove the battery and go have it tested at your local auto parts store. Also have all the battery cables checked for corrosion as well, if they're hard and frayed then replace those as well.

Not holding a charge

Take the negative cable off and put a test light between the cable end and the battery post. If the light lights you have something staying on in the car draining the battery. Then you have to use the process of elimination to find the problem. Could be dome light, glove box light or anything electrical. You can get a start on finding the problem by pulling one fuse at a time and rechecking. If a fuse causes the light not to light than that cicuit is the problem. This can be a long process so just take your time and stay calm. Good luck.
