My 2014 equinox the tailgate will go up manually but the if u turn knob in car to open to full n hit button it keeps going open n closed

It sounds like there may be an issue with the tailgate on your 2014 Equinox. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the tailgate latch: Make sure the latch on the tailgate is not damaged or stuck. You can try lubricating the latch with a penetrating oil to see if that helps.
  2. Check the tailgate hinges: If the tailgate is not opening smoothly, the hinges may be damaged or worn. You can try lubricating the hinges to see if that helps.
  3. Check the tailgate motor: If the tailgate is not opening or closing properly when you use the switch in the car, the motor that operates the tailgate may be damaged or not functioning correctly. You can try testing the motor to see if it is working properly.
  4. Check the wiring: If the tailgate is not opening or closing properly, there may be an issue with the wiring that connects the tailgate to the car's electrical system. You can check the wiring for any damaged or loose connections.
If none of these steps help to fix the issue with your tailgate, it's possible that there is a more serious problem with the tailgate itself. In this case, it's best to consult a mechanic or the manufacturer for further assistance.

L want to completely remove the tailgate of a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup.

Really bad idea. This will cost you lower fuel mileage, danger of cargo loss. Mythbusters have run tests proving that the aero effects with the tailgate up form a cushion of air in the bed which reduces drag. None of my business I know.

Adjust tailgate

you need to check for loose/missing latch and hinges screws and replace and retightened them all. If the hinges or latch have loosened due to body work problem/corrosion that would have to be fixed first.

Remove tailgate

Hi, to remove the tailgate off a ford bantam 1.3i you need an imoact driver with a phillips tip , with the tailgate closed remove the phillips bolt beneath the pivoting pin, now open the tailgate and remove the bolt above the pivoting pin , reach beneath the bumper corner and retrieve the the pin moving the tailgate slightly up and down, with the tailgate now resting on the rear sill, remove the collapsable hinge , the operation is best done with an assistant .
Hope this helps a bit;
Kind regards

I can't get my 95 gmc tailgate to come off. I know that you usually open it alittle and it will come off. But mine will not. So I would like to know if there is a trick to taking a 95 sonoma tailgate off.

  1. Lower the tailgate to the horizontal position.
  2. Disengage the cable on the right and left sides from the striker bolts. To accomplish this, pull up on the middle of the cable assembly while raising the gate to a 45 degree angle, but be careful not to pinch the cable between the gate and bed.
  3. Remove the tailgate from the vehicle by lifting upward on the left side to separate the left hinge assembly, then disengage the right hinge.
To install:
  1. Install the gate to the vehicle by lowering the right hinge assembly into position first, then holding the gate at a 45 degree angle and seating the left hinge assembly.
  2. Engage the left and right cables to the striker bolts.
  3. Verify proper tailgate latching and operation.

How to take the hinges off the tailgate not the window. The bolts on the window broke and I need to replace the whole hinge. The hinge screws into the tailgate and I tried to unscrew the hinge by turning...

There was a recall on window hinges for some models of Explorers. This was a safety recall and should not expire. Your vehicle may have been missed and they can run the VIN# to see if your model was included.

If no luck you may be able to get a glass shop to do it cheaply or go to a Salvage yard and get your parts there. Plus you can learn how it comes off on the Salvage part.

First chk the seals and see if there is a gap. If there is, you may have to ajust the hinges. Loosen the hinge bolts and. Do not remove them . Leave them loose enough to push the top in with the windoe down and latched. Then push the wind inward. Then carefully open the window and tighten two bolts on each hinge. Then ck the closing and alighment. If still needs more then repeat process but leave the bolts a litlle more snug so when you move it, it will stay untill you get the bolts tight. Good Luck, -Ned-

How to replace the tailgate hinge (tailgate side). There is only 1 bolt visable and once it is remove the hing still won't come off.

There are 2 bolts according to the GM service site. One on the side and one on the bottom of the tail gate. You will need to remove the tail gate to access the bottom bolt. Good Luck
