I have a 2000 Chevy Suburban with Leather seats and airbag in the seat... the driver side seat belt does not retract above the driver left shoulder and there does not appear to be a way to access the belt retractor for repair... any ideas... obviously not safe to drive without it and can't afford to replace the whole seat... would be crazy expensive... also driver side window switch won't work... the switch unit includes all four window switches and the other three work fine.. can't tell if it's the driver window master switch that's inop or the driver window motor that is causing the problem...any help appreciated... thanks... ET
First for the switch in window
the window switch is easy to test you just gotta remove switch out of the door leaving it hang there is a way to test with a guaged wire with fuse on it
take the main power wire and touch to the other connectors on the main switch if the window goes down or up the switch is the problem
im suggesting this way first with fuse cause its easier then testing the windows motor inside the door frame the switches should just pop out of the panel with out haveing to take panel off
now the seat belts there are 2 style that are common to chevy
one is inside the molding of the drivers panel you gotta pop off the panels easily and gently to get at the seat belt retractor this will be bolted to the metal under the molding
the other style is in the seat which you gotta unbolt the seat under the top half it will need to be unbolted at the bottom top half of seat
when you pull threw the top section of top half of seat remember to tie a string to the end so that when you pull threw top half the string will be there so you can connect too new belt and pull back threw with ease make the string long enough to hang
now the bottom half of seat what i call the "**** seat" you remove the molding at bottom around the belt retractor this will be bolted to floor bolt also pull belt threw molding once molding removed
disconnect any electric wires
now saftey issue involved with seat belt removal is for a reason i dont know of the dealer ship always discharges the belts and air bags once removed i guess because of static electricity becareful when you remove belt and replacing belts cause static elec. can set them off
once your seat belt is removed place in card board box and take to dealer after complition of installing new belt they will discharge your seat belt for you and then you can dispose of it properly

Brute Force. Get in through the passenger side and roll down the window. Have a friend hold the door latch open. Lay across the front seats and push with your feet. Have another friend take video and be famous when it unlatches and your friend goes flying. :>D
Inspect the seat belt material for damage and replace if necessary.
AS seat belt operation is paramount safety it would be in you best intereste to have the unit replaced as something is faulty in the setting and retention area.
2005 Towncar SRS Code 33 (3 flash + 3 flash, repeat this set for twice. then Beep 5 times pause x 5 = 25 beeps every 30min).
This means you have problem with left (Driver) side pretentioner (Seat belt retract system). It doesn't mean physical belt or retract mechanism. It is just bomb wiring which is part of airbag system. When airbag deploy, passenger must stay tight in seat otherwise body lean to front then slam back to seat by airbag. if belt is loose or delay to lock, passenger's body rocks back and forth. So, system use small bomb (Fire power) to lock and retract seat belt when airbag deploy. There is small bomb and igniter in part of Seat belt retractor. Code 33 is warning for this part on 2005 Towncar.(older model is different meaning in Ford/Lincoln, it's possibly passenger side airbag system for earlier model) Before you work for any part of Airbag system and touch any "Yellow connector", * *Disconnect battery (negative side is good enough) and wait at least 5 min to clear all power in system**.(Airbag store back up power for few minutes to be able to deploy even in case if power disconnected) by the way, you should move your driver seat most forwarded position before you disconnect battery to make it easy to work with seat belt. locate driver side seat belt retractor (in center pillar between front and rear door, you may have to fight with weather strip)
Locate Yellow connector on bottom of Seat belt retractor (it's called "Pretensioner")it is located on very bottom of rear side of retractor. only one yellow connector. (make sure your battery is disconnected) Check its physical connection or looseness.if connection looks fine, you may have to replace whole seat belt ($180-$200 in Lincoln dealer) You can check if pretensionor is good or bad by regular tester, but unless you know how, I won't tell (because I don't wan't you to blow out pretentionor).
CANT DISABLE SAFETY FEATURE. SEAT BELT CIRCUIT PART OF THE AIRBAGS SYSTEM. SEAT BELT HELP TRIGGER SIDE AIRBAGS AND AIRBAGS IN STEERING WHEEL.ON VECHICLE CRASH IMPACT.NEED TO LET DEALERSHIP REPLACE WORK ON FRONT SEAT.IF YOU WORK ON VECHICLE MOVE AROUND THE SEAT BELT RETRACTER COULD SET OFF THE AIRBAGS.AIRBAGS DANGEROUS LET QUALIFIED TECHNICIANS DO THE FIX.
look under the carpet and see if the plug is are there, even though your truck didnt have them all the wiring should be there, you will have to get a new dash control as well, go to a scrap yard and locate one. again the wiring should already be there as well as the fuse setup.
there may be a software issue, there is a reprogram for seat heater issues. Bulletin 05-08-50-008 may pertain to that, a AC DELCO Shop or the dealer can ck that and see if this bulletin applies.
I have the same issue (which comes and goes often).
It is caused by a loose wire connection, used for the drivers side airbag located in the seat.. The connector for mine is located under the front drivers seat. There are a couple of connectors that are connected to a bar under the front of the seat. I don't recall which one is used for the Airbag sensor.
The passenger seat belt wont come out of the B-pillar?? You will have to remove the B-pillar cover to REPLACE the retractor. It is not recomended to attempt a repair on a seat belt(unless it is just twisted and jammed) You may have to cut the belt if it is too tight to gain access.
look to see if you can adjust your seat belt pretensioner to better suit your height. look at the top of your seat belt- ( driver's side up and to the left of your left shoulder ) and see that you can very easily slide up or down your seat belt pretensioner. you are actually supposed to do this and even redo it if you ever readjustt your seat up or down or forward or backwards. believe it or not, your safety airbag light will come on automatically until you adjust your seat belt pretenioner in a way that the sensors read your seat belt to be safely set. naturally, if someone else drives the car he or she might have to readjust the seat belt pretensioner for the sensors to read them as being safely put. do this and the airbag warning light should go out.
I want to replace drive seatbelt
