Could my battery be frozen? Do I need a new battery?

Your battery is not frozen. In cold weather, a weak battery--one that needs to be replaced--may not work. The cold makes an already weak battery even weaker.

96 breeze battery gos died over night

connect an amp meter in where the battery earth wire is and read the current draw with everything off. Low current indicates something like a glove box light or boot light and heavier current draws indicate something like a relay malfunction or a power wire just shorting out somewhere. Once you get an idea of the current draw take it to an accredited auto electrician and tell him of the result and he may have a good idea of where to start.

Get the battery recharged and have the alternator tested . Voltage at battery with the car running should be 13.5-14 volts. If the battery light came on with engine running that indicates a bad alternator .NEVER remove battery cables with engine running , tests nothing and could cause ecu failure.

My 92 bmw 735i's battery died last week and it has already been replaced with a new one. It started up fine since then. Today, it wouldn't start at all without a jumpstart. I dared to drive out of my drive...

Sounds like the battery is not holding a charge, or something is draining the battery. You can check this by making sure everything in the car is turned off, disconnect the positive terminal of the battery, connect a test light to the battery terminal and the other end to the battery cable, if the test light lights up, something is drawing on the battery. You can pull one fuse at a time to try to determine what curcuit the problem is in. Most parts stores will test your battery, takes a couple hours.

Hey i will like to know whats killing my battery on my 1989 bmw 535i

Assuming your battery is good (go to Walmart and have them check it for you; they do this for free) the most likely cause is a light bulb in the glove box, interior light, under the hood, door ajar indicator or trunk that does not turn off when it is not needed. Try pulling various fuses each night when you park the car. The night the battery does not die you will want to focus on the system those fuses control as that is where your problem is.

Gauges flickered last night while driving on the highway tried to start it today and turned over at first but the starter started clicking and would not turn over

charge up your batter and start the car, Pull the pos (+) off the battery while its running. bmx have electronic gauges not old style cables. if the car dies, you need to replace the alternator, if it stays running, then you have a dead ground somethere under the dash, posible wire rubbing somewhere. this is common if the car has been equiped with an aftermarket sound system, alarm, guages, or lights.

if i have helped you in your issue, please leave a good rating. If you have further ?'s you can contact me at [email protected]
