SOURCE: 2003 durango brake lights stopped working

Something is being missed, start with checking the fuse for the brake lights. Then check the brake light switch for power in and out(when depressed).Your ground is intact so no power. If still nothing, remove the lamp in question and test the contacts. good luck. Don't forget to depress brake pedal while probing contacts.

SOURCE: I have no power for right brake light in main trailer wiring harness. Right turn signal works fine

Brake lights are not seperated but are tied into the turn signal control. If the turn signal on that side doesn't work, but does on the other sidem chk connections on tail light assembly. No offence but check the bulb If all is fine then chkthe turn signsl control by working it. No power? was this ascertained by the bulb not lighting or by using a test light? Just a need to know question, no offence intended.

I have a 98 Chevy blazer I am try to fix my trailer lights with a universal harness the problem I am having is the blazer has 6 wires and the harness has 4 what do I do

The universal harness with four wires assumes that the brake lights and turn signals use the same bulbs. If your Blazer has separate bulbs for rear turn signals and brake lights, this 'universal' harness will not work unless you buy a separate adapter to merge the power to the brake lamps and turn signals for the trailer.

The rear brake lights do not work. This includes the center brake light at the top of the rear hatch

although I have not experienced this problem in the exact vehicle you have, General Motors has had problems with the turn signal switches in many of their vehicles. The turn signals may still work properly, but the electric signal from the brake light switch passes through the turn signal switch (also called a combination switch) before it goes to the brake lights. I assume you have no problem shifting out of park or you would have mentioned it, which tells me the brake light switch is functioning properly. First thing to do, as always is to check for blown fuses. If it is a blown fuse, you then need to determine what caused the fuse to blow. If you have towed a trailer recently, it could have been faulty wiring in the trailer, or it could be faulty wiring in the trailer lighting harness of the Escalade.

The lower brake lights have stopped working yet the upper brake light above rear window works Doesn't appear to be burnt bulbs. I removed a trailer wiring harness that was connected to a connector on the...

No you cannot just connect the 3rd brake light to the left/right brake light, chances are they also function independently as turn signals. The type of trailer wiring harness you speak of is usually installed by unplugging the wiring harness and plugging that connector inline. The two sides of that harness should plug back together.

Trailer lights have two wire out of each fixture left turn goes on left side Right hand turn goes on the other side Tail lights connect how and brakes connect how?

One wire is for the brake/directional filament and the other wire is for the tail light. The fixture should be grounded when it is attached to the bracket. To test which is which (the brown wire is USUALLY the ail light) make sure the fixture is grounded and touch a hot wire to each of the wires coming from the fixture. Watch to see which wire lights up the brighter filament and this is the brake/directional light. The dimmer filament if the tail light. Brakes lights and directional lights are both the same filament. Wen the brakes are applied, both lights are activated. When a direction light is turned on, it simply flashes the brake light filament.

What number is the fuse on the trailer brakes

i believe the trailer brakes run off the same fuse as the tail lights no extra fuse all the ones ive seen the trailer lights just fuse into the wiring harness of the rear tail lights so if your brake and turn signals works your prob is gonna be in the trailer lights them self or your connection in the wiring right behind the rear bumper. Hope this helps

Pressing brake causing blinker issue

The trailer harness that was installed probably has a short inside the box that distributes power to the trailer pig-tail. Remove the trailer harness. You problem will be cured.

2001 Sportage Trailer wire connections

brown to the tail lights. yellow to left turn signal. green to right turn signal. this is a basic 3 wire hook-up i use all the time w/4wire connectors for all trailers. white wire is not used. ground is established when you hook to the ball.
to find the correct wire to splice to, use a testor (has a clip to the bare wire, and a sharp point to the truck frame). using a needle, push it through a wire to rear light harness. turn on the turn signal. check if the connection is the blinker, testing until you have the blinker wire. the tail lights can be attached to the license plate wire. brakes and blinkers use same wire, so brake lights will work whenever the turn signal is attached.
to be sure everything is working right, have a second person go inside the truck and work the signals, brakes and lights one at a time while you are at the back of the trailer telling what to do.
