To hook up a radio you should actually locate the Acc. wire that comes off the ignition switch. There must be a wire or plug in the area where the radio fits and this should supply current when the key is selected to Acc and beyond. Connecting the radio anywhere else could damage computer circuits or other electronic components.

OK to use that for power, but it's likely you will accidentally leave the radio on and kill the battery. Generally, it's better to run power from the accessory side of the ignition switch, or use an additional relay that is powered by accessory side of switch..
