79 chevy k10 starter problems

I have a 79 chevy k10 with a stock 350 at first my starter did not have enough power to turn the motor to crank it. i have put in a new battery,cables,and starter but now its not getting any power at all. i have checked all my wires and they are good,i even moved the ground wire. what else could i do ?

Fusible Links

The engine compartment wiring harness has several fusible links. The same size wire with a special hypalon insulation must be used when replacing a fusible link.
The links are located in the following areas:

  1. A molded splice at the starter solenoid Bat terminal, a 14 gauge red wire.
  2. A 16 gauge red fusible link at the junction block to protect the unfused wiring of 12 gauge or larger wire. This link stops at the bulkhead connector.
  3. The alternator warning light and field circuitry is protected by a 20 gauge red wire fusible link used in the battery feed to voltage regular #3 terminal. The link is installed as a molded splice in the circuit at the junction block.
  4. The ammeter circuit is protected by two 20 gauge fusible links installed as molded splices in the circuit at the junction block and battery to starter circuit.
Other things it MIGHT be are the ignition switch, located on top of the steering column:

The other thing it MIGHT be is a faulty ignition cylinder (where your key goes into to start the K10).

Check the wire harness on the steering column also.

I have a 1981 chevy k10 stock clutch torque ratings
Man that is hard saying, everything i could find where people upgraded horsepower- they included upgrading the clutch. I would go with a stage 2 or stage 3 with that much power if it was my build- why put a weak link in your drive-train? why risk not getting all you hope to get out of your 500hp engine?? IMHO

I have a 81 Chevy c/10 Scottsdale with 350 Pontiac motor it cranks hard but will start should I get a bigger battery and I know the starter is bad cause the solenoid pops out are these my problems
fix the starter solenoid problem or get a heavy duty starter motor for the engine They spin the engine easier and faster than standard units
Next for a V8 350 I would be using a 750 cca battery or the next biggest battery that fits the carrier
check the ignition timing and adjust to 12 degrees BTDC as more than that makes for hard starting

Kinda hard to follow what you are trying to say, but it sounds like you might need a starter? maybe, or possibly cables if yours are old and corroded.

There are two different size flywheels used on Chevy engines.The straight across bolt pattern is for the small diameter flywheel the staggered pattern for the large flywheel.The block is drilled for both starter patterns.The F- bodies in 1986 came with a small flywheel-so you should need a starter with the straight across pattern.The depth doesn't change ,just the distance away from the crank.

Yes it is. As for the starter issue the company/supplier of the crank and flywheel should be able to direct you to the proper starter to make up for that difference otherwise you will either keep having this issue or go back to the stock setup

Motor swap
The flywheel is balanced different. Use the 79 flywheel. The exhaust is all going to have to be changed. The trans., bellhousing will work.
