Well i am a saturn tech,,i would disconnect the battery and remo the starter from underneath the car,,,2 15mm bolts hold it onto the engine,,,disconnect the 2 wires to the starter frist, then after removing the starter then knock sensor is right there 1 13mm bolt and there you go
oh ok sorry i thought you had a 4 cylinder,,,,,,wow youre gonna wish you did,,,yes it is located under the intake manifold and you got some tearing down to get to it.,,,but for the 3.5 liter honda engine, your gonna need to disconnect the battery, remove the intake duct work,,remove the throttle body, remove the pcv hose and brake booster hose, remove the top nuts holding the intake manifold together, and disconnect the 2 IAT sensors,,then remove the inner nut and bolts that hold the intake manifold to the engine,,and pull the manifold straight up and off,,,next, slide off the studs the lower intake manifold spacer bracket,,,your also gonna have to remove the lower intake manifold ,,take all the nuts off the lower manifold and then remove it,,,,youre gonna have to remove the 4 bolts holding the fuel rail onto the manifold, and then pull up on the rail,,dont lose any o-rings for the injectors,,the knock sensor should be right there disconnect the plug and remove it,,,tighten the new sensor to 23 foot lbs. reverse these instructions to reinstal,,,i would put some lube on the orings of the injectors so you dont tear them on install,,,just take youre time and make sure you connect everything up

I may not have said this before, but it's a 2005 Vue 6-cyl 2wd. To reiterate, all the parts guys I talked to (including at the Saturn dealer itself) seem to be of a consensus that it's under the manifold. Is that what you're saying, just from a different direction? I am not questioning your experience, but in the interests of the time it would take, I have to be sure. Thanks for your help, BTW.
