I have a cold air intake on my mazda 6 car. At the top of where the tube meets engine area there is a noise. It's not a constant noise, almost only when the car is first started. I don't know the name of the part where this takes place but can hear where it's coming from. Any suggestions??

Maybe its the valve tappets. circulation of oil has not reached its peak since the first start. wait a few minutes for oil to reach the top of engine. normally cold air intake reach the engine at the first start. air from the exhaust manifold is recirculated to improved combustion.

Without seeing where you are taling about im guessing it to be noise from air going past the idle ait solenoid at the throttle body, since it will be open farther when cold. if that doesnt make sense, try explaining hte noise a little better. i really dont think its anything to worry abotu if it only does it when cold.

I have an 05 Mazda 6, when my car is while idling it makes a loud cracking/popping noise.

A cracking or popping noise is frequently an indication of an air/fuel mixture that is too lean (too much air). Have a mechanic or mechanically inclined friend check the various vacuum lines on your engine. Sounds like a cracked or broken vacuum hose on the intake side of the engine. Good luck.

98 626 2.0 run idles but lungges and won't excelerate will idle. changed ecu not that

Check the air intake boot between the air cleaner and engine. It is a black rubber, accordian looking tube. Check the accordion tube area and down in the grooves for any tears that would allow unfiltered and unmetered air into the engine. Tube can look fine just sitting there but when trying to accelerate the engine torque will allow engine to move and open up the tear causing a lunging or surging feel on acceleration but not at idle.

I got a 2003 mazda protege 2.0 the check engin light came on. it drives great but when left to idle it sounds like its going to stall.

Could be the Mass Air Flow sensor. But I would check the cold air intake tube first, they are subject to cracking and any hole in it will cause the MAF to give false readings which will trigger the light and cause rough idle, stalling and hesitation.

Sounds like you are right on the apex seals. Oil coming from the intake is probably from excessive blowby pressure in the engine due to bad seals. The battery could be bad from age, is it the original battery?

Don't waste your time. Have the intake manifold gaskets (upper and lower) replaced. Check all vacuum lines for leaks. Clamp all vacuum hose connections.
Do NOT replace any sensors unless the computer codes indicate.

Air intake tube?

This sounds silly but try using a piece of garden hose (or any other hose) held to your ear, using the free end as a probe. You will be able to pinpoint the source of the hissing noise and see what needs to be fixed.

I cant find the air intake temperature sensor

on some cars this sensor is located on the air box where your air filter is or on the tube that goes from your air box to the engine
