Ford explorer making loud roaring noise at 35 to 45 mph

Then starts again about 70 mph. seams to be getting worse

Where does this noise seem to be coming from? Front end, rear end? Any vibration in the steering wheel? Dull roar? What kind of tires are on the vehicle? If there is vibration, it could be the U joints on the driveshaft. I had a similar problem with my 98 Explorer. Had the front end aligned several times also had tires balanced, front wheel bearings inside and out replaced. The problem was the Wrangler tires, put a set of Michelin noise disappeared, and it rides better.

What year is your explorer, if it is a newer one say within the last 10 years it could be from either the rear end or it could be from a hub bearing in the front end. these have problems with hub bearings going out.

Wy does my fFord explorer make an ugly noise when I start it up and whenin reverse, worse on cold days?

Do you have an eight cylinder? Does the noise go away when driving past 40 MPH? If so it is the torque converter.

2004 ford explorer loud hum and vibration at 70 mph

Could be bad unbalanced tires. If the noise changes when you turn/change lanes, then it is likely a wheel bearing.

I am getting a thump or a clunk sound when i take my foot off the gas going approx. 60 to 70 mph

I hope you not going over 40 mph or better
yet, have it diagnosed and repaired

I wouldn't recommend going 70 mph ever.
You lose a drive shaft, you could loose control,
roll over or worse

Have the driveshaft joints and the rest of the
drivetrain checked out

Don't use it like that

Loud "tire or wheel" roar on the highway

I certainly would take it back to the shop that performed the brake job and have them investigate. If it was not making the noise prior to the repair there is a good chance the noise is involved with the brakes. A possible loose brake pad, a sticking caliper(caliper pins may need to be lubed) or any number of things could be wrong.
