The microswitch for the Volvo S40 trunk lid is located inside the trunk lid panel. On the left side of the trunk lid panel, you should be able to locate the access panel for the microswitch. Remove the panel to access the switch. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch and remove the mounting screws to remove the microswitch. Install the replacement switch by tightening the mounting screws and reattaching the electrical connector. Test the switch to make sure it works correctly and then reinstall the access panel.

SOURCE: trunk will not open with or without key

hello theres really not many choices if you have a trunk key it should work if not and the inside trunk release isnt working either you could try to get at the lock setup from the back seat take your lower seat out remove the lower holding bolts slide up off the top lock setup see if theres enough room to work from there to pop the trunk open with a flash light and a screwdriver if not your going to have to pop the lock cylinder at your trunk once its out you can get a aftermarket replacement under $ 20 goodluck please rate

SOURCE: want to replace signal fuse in volvo s40

i have a 98 s40. The fuses can be found internal (under the dashboard near the bonnethandle). Inside it you can find the fuse clamp and extra fuses. These can also be used for the external fusebox under the bonnet.
I have found the fuse that might be broken, but i can't replace it because it has some extra casing. It's for internal lights and the alarm.

I have had to replace the switch itself on several s80s. First, you need to make sure there is power to the switch.

2006 s40 volvo emergency trunk release wont work

try having someone jiggle the trunk up and down from the outside while you pull on the emergency release from the inside, you may have a problem with the wiring in the trunk itself, the wires have a problem chaffing where they come out of the trunk lid and go into the car, you can disconnect both ends and replace that for about $30

Where are the fuses for locks?

A blown fuse is about the last place I would look to find the cause of a problem with an electric trunk release. What usually goes wrong with these is broken wires inside the conduit that connects between the body and the trunk lid.

Message Boot Lid open

Boot is the trunk, right? Find the switch in the trunk, maybe the wire fell off, or the switch has failed. Temporarily you might be able to either disconnect or ground the wire to turn the light off until you can get it fixed.

Trunk lock broken by uninsured motorist

to put on a trunk lid is very simple usually 4 bolts on the bottom near back window. As far as locating a trunk lid look under auto salvage in the yellow pages tell them what you need they can locate the part for you over their network. Anyone with a wrench will be able to install the lid as long as there is no other body damage
