Where is the fuse for rear window defroster on a 2005 envoy?

you need to make sure the wires are on the glass on each side and there is no broken wires in the glass there is a repair kit at a auto store to fix if you have a volt meter test it and that way you can find the problem look for breaks in the wire in the glass and do not for get the wires on each side of the glass.

those can be tricky to solve. get in the back of the car and look for a connector on the window. some times for some reason they let go. if it has let go then visit you auto store and ask for a fix there are a few products that are cheap. if it has not let go then if you know how to use a multi meter check for voltage on the connector/s if theres voltage then there is a break in the defroster somwhere

Hi there. I assume you don't have a owner's manual, or know where the fuse box is...

I had the same thing happen...I already had the rear door taken apart because the latch mechanism had failed and I was replacing that (not too bad a job: $100 part and 2 hours)...while I had the door apart I tried tapping on the window motor with hammer to get it working again...that did not seem to do anything. I then started looking at fuses.. There are 3 fuse boxes under the hood, and 1 panel by the driver's left knee. The top left fuse in the driver's left knee fuse box was labeled "TAIL". I pulled that one and even though it was not burned through...it looked a little funny (had some discoloration on the contacts like it had been getting hot). I replaced that and then shut the rear door and started up the engine. What do you know..everything works. I think it was likely the fuse...but who knows. Maybe this will work for someone else too.

2006 Solara Comvertible - same problem as everyone else. The defroster just stopped working (well, 2 lines in the upper portion work somewhat) several months back. The light comes on and obviously power is there since 2 of the lines do something. The dealer also told me the WHOLE top would have to be replaced...thousands of dollars. I thought I might have to replace the window but apparently that can't even be done. They actually told me a repair kit exists to do it yourself at Pep Boys, yet they won't attempt to fix. Pep Boys confirmed kit exists but won't tounch it either, Window replacement company won't either. So, again the consumer is screwed, I guess. Obviously if those paid to do mechanical work can't or won't do it, why would a novice be able to? I am so angry! No more Toyotas for me. My buying experience was a whole other story that turned me off from this car to start with. Probably when someone gets killed, they will be forced to look at this. Convertibles are notorious for poor visibility in the rear and now with the windshield completely frosted or covered with snow and iced while driving due to the weather conditions, it is UNSAFE! Is there any help for this problem?
