If it is idling and not missing , the firing order is right
check the ignition timing --should be 10 degrees btdc at idle
smoking can be from rings installed up side down on the pistons, ring gaps excessive or broken rings during installation of pistons, excessive bearing clearance( (clearance not measured during assembly) , valve stem seals not correctly installed
Lack of power could be from valve timing solenoid not controlling the timing from wir not connected

Firing Order: 1 - 2 - 3
Base Ignition Timing
Note: With the T terminal Shorted.5 +/- 2 deg BTDC
Ignition timing should be checked and adjusted, if necessary whenever spark plugs are replaced or any distributor maintenance is done. Ignition timing should be 3-7°BTDC at 750-850 RPM with the engine check connector terminal 11 (brown) shorted, Fig. 1. The engine check connector is located near the top of the transaxle.

My sincere apologies for the delayed response.
I am personally going back to answer your unanswered questions.
I do not know if you have the 1.6L or 2.0L Engine or if your engine has the Overhead Cam or not. I have included all the Diagrams below.
For the 1.6L:
Firing Order:
1-3-4-2
Cylinders:
(back of engine)
1.....2.....3.....4
(front of engine)
Distributor:
(back)
..(+)-screw
............2
1
.................4
........3
...............(+)-screw
(front)
For the 2.0L WITHOUT the Overhead Cam:
Firing Order:
1-3-4-2
Cylinders:
(back of engine)
1......2......3......4
(front of engine)
Distributor:
......(back)
........4
2..........(+)-screw
(+)..........3

....(front)
For the 2.0L WITH the Overhead Cam:
Firing Order:
1-3-4-2
Cylinders:
(back of engine)
1......2.....3......4
(front of engine)
Ignition Connections:

Again my apologies...
Let me know if this helped...

is your engine turbo charged? if so go for turbo charger or the waste gate valve not working and do not allow the engine emission to flow easily. also for the black smoke sometimes you might have a clogged air filter, tight engine valves( if are adjustable ).
