Front drive shaft? Look to the front differential. Rear shaft shouldn't turn at all on the ground. Then look at the T case.
Testimonial: "Rear Shaft does not turn on the ground only to the left up in the air. It sounded like a front wheel bearing to begin with. Then while putting it on flat bed rear right wheel locked up."
Being a 94, I am assuming it has drum brakes on the rear. Check the emergency brake cable first. They rust up and won't release. Replace it or cut it close to the brake shield. Do both sides. Lift the rear up first and see if the tires will turn by hand in neutral. If so, you maybe look at internal transmission problems.Rear planetary gears could be blown.
The e-Brake has been gone a long time ago. Dropping the drive shaft was one of the first things I did and rear wheels turn freely. No grinding or clanking
The next Two places I am looking is the t-case and front Diff. Hate to take all this apart and still have the same Prob. I will try in the morning if you can think of anything else please let me know. Thanks for your input.
Remove the front shaft. In 2 wheel or neutral the front should turn. Usually when the t case goes it will be hard or impossible turn turn either way, to much binding. You may just want to drop the transmission pan and see if there is any metal in it. Sounds more like a planet is gone or a sprag. That is a 4l60 transmission.
Thanks Everybody for your help. After much discussion with my Wife and son they have convinced me to put a fuse in the gas tank. So that load Boom you hear is not a Jet passing By. L.O.L. ( I Have already Put a Rear end, Gas tank and two fuel pumps, did I forget to mention the injectors) Paid $1,500 8 years ago. Got my money worth. R.I.P.
